Tucked away down a country lane in the heart of Broadland, and enjoying glorious views across open fields, a range of handsome barns has been tastefully converted to create the attractive cluster of cottages we offer here. Some nestle under their traditional Norfolk thatch, all are very comfortably appointed and each enjoys its own individual patio. From the cottages, a gentle and tranquil rural landscape dotted with ancient churches, wind pumps and nature reserves, among a myriad other delights all under vast, arching East Anglian skies, offers a wealth of opportunity for enjoying walking, cycling and bird watching. Nearby How Hill nature reserve, with its marsh meadows, dykes, woodland and open water, is well worth exploring and the wider surrounding area supports a host of attractions. Riverside pubs and cafés are plentiful and a number of Broadland centres offer bike hire or canoe hire (possibly the most delightful way to discover the lovely reed lined waterways and their abundant wildlife) and visitors can also hire boats at nearby Potter Heigham, 4 miles, or take a pleasure cruise from bustling Wroxham – the capital of the Broads and home to the ‘world’s largest village store’ as well as the train station for the Bure Valley narrow gauge steam railway. Close by, BeWILDerwood, a magical tree top park, promises children a day to remember, and lovely dune backed sandy beaches are a short drive – Sea Palling lies just 6 miles away. For lively family fun, visitors need look no further than Great Yarmouth and its famous pleasure beach, or Pleasurewood Hills theme park, whilst Cromer also offers traditional seaside entertainments including a renowned end of pier show. Bygone museums, craft centres and Blickling Hall (National Trust) are all within an easy drive, as is the medieval city of Norwich with its magnificent cathedral, castle, galleries, museums, cinemas, theatres and excellent shopping. A little further afield on the north Norfolk coast, seal watching boat trips can be found at picturesque fishing villages, many of which also boast pubs and restaurants serving superb, locally caught seafood. Coarse fishing is available on the lake opposite the properties just 400 yards away, and the pretty village of Ludham, 1 mile, boasts two pubs and a good range of shops.. All properties: Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot and highchair. Patio with garden furniture. Fishing on-site, 400 yards. Parking. No smoking.

Beautiful accommodation, well equipped, peaceful setting.
Beautiful accommodation, well equipped, peaceful setting. Great location for visiting the many nature reserves and restaurants along the Broads. Also close to Great Yarmouth and Cromer if you like seaside towns.Only one thing about the accommodation was the creaky floorboards upstairs, owners really need to get them fixed!!!

We stayed during the first week of August with 2 x 12 year old girls and a dog. The kitchen is well equipped and the open-plan downstairs layout is very spacious. The double bedroom is a bit awkward/cramped due to the the sloping walls but had two cupboards in it for clothes to hang; the twin room is very spacious. After the lockdown, there were a few cobwebs still lurking behind the TV & bed and in a few corners, but being from the countryside ourselves, that didn't offend or upset us. There were 2 pubs that we found within a couple of miles, Tesco was about 4 miles away and one day we visited Howe Hill, which is a small stately home about a mile away. Local beaches are very unspoilt about 5 miles away and at Horsley we even discovered seals. We had a great week and would highly recommend Chive Cottage.

Great cottage, spacious and in a lovely setting with easy car parking.
Great cottage, spacious and in a lovely setting with easy car parking. If you want to visit The Broads they are within easy reach. Overall a great place to stay.
Just a couple of minor points....the cottage was generally clean but there were cobwebs in some places and around the sink was not as clean as it could have been. The mattress on the single bed used also needs changing, it sinks in the middle and the bed is creaky.

Lovely peaceful location , central to what we needed.
Lovely peaceful location , central to what we needed. Lovely hosts , dealt with any needs we had. Cottage was very clean and comfortable , with lots of home comforts and free WiFi. The only thing we found was the creaky floor boards, but this goes along with the age of the property. We will definitely visit again .

A beautiful location, many attractions close by.
A beautiful location, many attractions close by. Would have rated higher except for a noisy boiler firing up through the night and blinds in bedrooms that let in all the light. I was in the twin room so not affected by the boiler and so slept well as in a really quiet location. Went to Norwich using the park and ride; very straightforward! Do visit the cafe/tea room in Ludham. An unbelievable range of gluten free and very friendly service.
