The Pinnacles are not far from the shipwreck and are a very popular tourist attraction. In my opinion, the coloured sand dunes are not as impressive as Rainbow beach but that is up to the viewers discretion.
This is probably the best place I have been to in the world. It is a 'Natural Beauty Salon'. Rated as one of the WORLDs TOP 10 MUST SWIM IN LAKES. A pretty fancy title for a little island atoll just off Queensland’s sunshine coast. Lake Mackenzie is mind-blowingly beautiful. The pure white sand is so soft and acts as a brilliant exfoliate. The water is cool, fresh, crystal clear, and an array of blues. The dark blue section of the lake is extremely deep. Lake Mackenzie left its mark on both our memories and physically by conditioning our hair and leaving our skin silky smooth. It is truly natures Beauty Salon. SS Maheno shipwreck. The ship was an ocean liner that travelled between New Zealand and Australia as a medical ship during World War 1. It is a very impressive wreck and a photographers delight to shoot during the afternoon light.

On first arrival we liked what we saw. However once we got to the room we noticed the apartment had a strong smell of bleach. Inspecting the bathroom the shower floor looked like it needed to be fully regrouted and freshened. It was patchy which looked like they had been trying to clean mould from the grout. There also was silicone hanging like they had tried to seal it. We were told there was only one other standard room available which looked okay but the balcony was surrounded by trees with no view. We were offered a refund which we gladly accepted and found alternative accomodation.

The location is amazing: right on the beach, easy walk into Surfers shops and eateries, free onsite parking, really well set up with three bedrooms, full kitchen and laundry with washer and dryer, two bathrooms and heaps of room to spread out a bit.
