We stayed in the hotel for one night on 1 Aug. There is nearby car parking in a council provided car park, literally adjoining the rear of the property. The staff were very helpful and polite, leading to an easy check in. The room was full of charm and character, and clean throughout. However the cups provided for having a brew were about the size of an egg cup. Whilst it's only a minor point, it would be simple to solve the issue for future guests.
We headed down for a meal. We weren't told what the problem was, but when we asked a member of staff for a menu she told us that the menu had been reduced to around six items, none of which appealed to us so we went elsewhere. We understand that things go wrong occassionaly, and the member of staff handled it well.
Our room was at the front of the hotel and during the early hours there was a great deal of commotion outside that lasted quite a while. As it was outside of the property we don't hold any grievance with the hotel, they hold no vicarious liability for the actions of others. However, it did result in a disturbed nights sleep for us and other guests.
To be fair the good outweighs the bad by a long way, and we would consider staying there again.
