The Verandah at Gisborne
This is a lovely spacious villa which has been furnished and decorated with families or groups to enjoy. It is 5 minutes from Waikanae Beach or town and set in a quiet street. A short drive takes you to Wainui Beach. It is a great place from which to go on day trips to explore the East Coast. Outdoor living is a feature with a roomy verandah, equiped for outdoor dining, and a large, fully fenced back lawn with outdoor furniture and shady trees , which makes it safe and private for families. There is a large lounge and family room which make it ideal for families to share. The house has been used very satisfactorily for family groups celebrating family occasions or "get togethers" and for multiple family groups. The park is very near and has a children's playground. It is also a great spot to walk or cycle, scooter from with the paved river walk nearby or bush/hill walks within close proximity. Special conditions: Available for short term rental throughout the year. No smoking inside or on Verandah.

comfortable base
A great base for my work team. Warm, clean and very well set up. Thank you :)
9 adults enjoyed this beautiful well kept villa. The moment we opened the door we felt invited in. She was well equipped with beautiful outdoor verandah to gather around and reminisce on your days outing..truky a remarkable, spacious home... we moved every moment.. we are already promoting The Verandah to our family and friends.
Had the most amazing stay here for the weekend with some friends. Kathy was super lovely, helpful and accommodating to deal with when I needed to make modifications to my booking. The house is gorgeous, great area and ideal for a group trip away to sunny Gisbourne. Just wish we could have had more time to enjoy here and to make the most of all the outdoor activities/games provided at the house. Highly recommend!
We feel blessed to have had the property as our base for my daughters wedding where she came to prepare herself before the church service. The spacious rooms and outdoor areas gave us the ambience to enjoy the special moments that comes with such a celebration. The well stocked kitchen provided all we needed as well. Only issue was the main oven fan created alot of smoke so we didnt use it but the smaller oven was sufficient. Woukd gladly stsy again.
This is an older villa with a mix of old and new. There are an impressive amount of spaces to socialize: two living rooms, front deck, back deck, large eat-in kitchen, indoor or outdoor dining areas. We particularly enjoyed the renovated kitchen and back deck with large garden space. The neighbourhood was quiet and after our tough trail race we enjoyed retreating to a bit of A/C and books available in the home. The home's rooms are large and well equipped. It was a quick drive to the beach, and a nice local cafe is within walking distance. The backyard would be amazing for lawn games or kids. The carpets could use some updating as well as the twin mattresses (I slept on one) though the big picture is that it's an amazing space. I look forward to another stay someday.
Stayed at The Verandah in Feb 2024 to visit family. Great communication from Kathy. Easy check-in. Lots of room for 8 adults & a baby. Two lounge areas meant we were not on top of each other. Did not use the kitchen to make any meals but it was modern and well equipped. Older style home but that was expected from the photos. Bathrooms were serviceable except for the quirky design in the ensuite with a window over the sink and the mirror to one side. However our stay was very comfortable as beds were great.
Cons: House would benefit from a spring clean & good airing, and wardrobes near to be cleared for guests to use.
The house was excellent for our sports team visiting Gisborne for 3 days and was very well equipped with everything we needed to be self catering - it was exactly as advertised.
The house was well presented and easy to keep warm with electric and gas heaters. The kitchen is new and modern with heaps of cutlery, plates, casseroles and appliance - we loved having a pod coffee machine! The five bedrooms (one with an ensuite bathroom) were all large and spacious, and there are several indoor lounge seating areas. There is a large washing machine and dryer, plus an outdoor clothesline in the large back yard.
We enjoyed spending time out on the lovely deck and had one of of our meals at the large outdoor table.
Communication with Kathy was easy and efficient and entry instructions were clear. We appreciated an early check in when we arrived on a wet rainy day.
This is a great house for a large group and we would love to stay again if we are ever back in Gisborne.
Thanks Kathy and family.
Our experience during our stay was a bit of a mixed bag. The house itself was delightful, offering a cozy and homely atmosphere. It was well-maintained, neat, and the back deck area provided a pleasant spot to relax.
However, our main issue revolved around the communication with the property manager, which was rather disappointing. Regrettably, we encountered difficulties reaching the property manager. While I could receive messages from the property manager through the Bookabach messaging function, I was unable to respond. Additionally, the listed phone number for the property manager appeared to be incorrect or disconnected, as my repeated attempts to make contact were unsuccessful.
Not being able to communicate with the property manager led to an inconvenience, as it rendered me unable to modify our guest count (reduce it) before our stay. This resulted in the cost of our stay being $200 higher than it should have been, which was frustrating.
I booked the Verandah at Gisborne for myself and family to stay in for my wedding and the house was incredible and charming! Lots of space and bedrooms for a family and a nice large backyard and deck to relax and enjoy a meal. Comfortable beds and gorgous lounge. Highly recommend any family to stay here! Kathy has been great and responsive to any enquiries. We throughly enjoy our stay in Gisborne at the Verandah!
Warm and welcoming. Lovely comfy beds. We liked the indoor outdoor flow and gardens. Bathrooms functional but would be good to have a seperate toilet. Shared room could be made into two seperate rooms to mitigate snoring noises Secure latches on windows to allow windows open at night to let in fresh air would be also be good. Wonderful spacious home which we enjoyed and so close to amenities
This house was very clean with everything you could wish for. Plenty of space, quiet location, lovely grounds and one of the nicest places we have stayed in. Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend.
