Hassle free check in (we arrived late so the staff left the key in a safe place for us) and hassle free check out. Actually we never met any of the staff. Room was clean, the bathroom very new. Bed was comfy. But we were on the 1st floor which meant we had to endure the people stomping away on the second floor, and people walking and talking on the streets. The stay at d'nice was anything but nice. The included breakfast didn't exist due to earlier complaints from guests and had to be bought in and consisted of toast and peanutbutter. The limited cleaning clearly meant no cleaning at all during the entire stay. The hot water in the shower didn't seem to be working and made it very uncomfortable to shower. The room itself had serious damp issues in the walls that made patches of paint fall of and made it feel very poorly maintained. The reception had very limited number of operating hours and wasn't even staffed during those hours; some of the communication had to be dealt by leaving notes at the counter. The staff with the exception of one made us feel very unwelcomed and non caring about their guests. The area surrounding the hotel felt very sketchy after dark walking home, but was quite close by the touristic places in Georgetown. The d'nice hotel didn't live up to the expectations, the pictures and information set up and was very overpriced! The inn is nicely decorated, room was clean and located in a historical area. The family room we had is spacious and could really accommodate a family of three. Eating out is easy, and if you want to take shelter (due to the hot weather) in an air conditioned shopping mall, Prangin Mall is just a stone throw away. Anyway, no toiletries given (only toilet roll and bath towels) I'm used to traveling light so I did not bring along my toiletries... Breakfast was not impressive. Did not bother to take breakfast at this establishment. Room was adequately furnished and cosy. Did not like that there were no curtains to block out sunlight in the morning. I guess I got what I paid for, There was a mildly unpleasant smell having walked past a corner where they have this pet rabbit in a cage at the common area. Service desk at fixed hours- 8am to 7pm. Location was great though! However, no convenient store within the vicinity. The room was too small and bewarn, you are made to carry your shoes in a bag upstairs. No cleaning at all throughout the period of stay. Minimal reception hours. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the wooden floors and high ceiling. Beds and pillows really comfortable! Bathroom has an effective shower curtain. Staff only on site 9-6 but they came in at 7 to give us breakfast before an 8 am bus. Breakfast is very basic.
