Gameroom! Fireplaces! Hot Tub! Ober! When you arrive at A Bear Above cabin, you will experience amazing, majestic, mountain views of Mt LeConte. This roomy cabin is perched above the Ober Mountain ski lodge and downtown Gatlinburg with the National Park boundary, and an entrance to Cove Mountain trail, just across the road. Private and quiet location for family fun or getaway for couples looking to recharge. Near the Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrance, Ober Mountain Ski Resort, Downtown Gatlinburg, and Gatlinburg bypass to Pigeon Forge. This mountain retreat is easily in one of the most convenient locations in the Smokies. Being across the road from the National Park, makes this particular cabin great for wildlife encounters (black bears). Please Be Bear Aware. Keep your distance from the bears and do not feed them! Remove all food from your vehicles as a deterrent . A great way to see the area is from the nearby Aerial Tram to Gatlinburg. For entertainment, nearby Ober Mountain (formerly known as Ober Gatlinburg) has the Ski Mountain Coaster, Zip line, a wildlife zoo, Mountain bike trail, ice skating, snow skiing, alpine slide, snow tubing, scenic chairlift, rock wall climbing, kiddie umbrella ride, amaze'n'maze, carousel, trails, ice bumper cars, shops, and dining. Gatlinburg provides great fun during all seasons. This is one of the only cabins with great views in all three (3) directions. The view facing the northeast side is towards Pigeon Forge & Sevierville in which direction you can see for miles and miles. All the rear windows face Southeast towards the spectacular mountain views of Mt LeConte and Chimney Tops. This cabin is located on a quiet road and has a paved drive with a 2 car garage. It also has additional parking. This retreat provides a very peaceful setting for your upcoming vacation. After you park, you can enter the home by either the garage or directly from the driveway into the front gate to the front door with no stairways to negotiate. You will enter this beautiful home where your dream vacation awaits. Ring camera and security cameras (audio and video) located at front door and garage areas. The cabin has a master bedroom isolated far away from the common areas with a king sized bed, on suite tiled bath with granite countertop, electric fireplace, smart TV, and french doors that open onto a private deck with seating. Bedroom number 2 has a queen sized bed, on suite bath, smart TV, and a set of french doors that open onto a private balcony with seating. A 3rd bedroom has a queen sized bed and smart TV. This bedroom is on the main floor and is level to the driveway and next to a full bath, and would provide great accommodations for guests that might be challenged by stairs. The living room faces out towards Mt LeConte and has a sleeper sofa, smart TV, and a fireplace. Upstairs there is a mini library which contains a desk and table with chairs. This area also contains several books, puzzles, and board games for your entertainment. This reading area overlooks the living room and has exquisite mountain views. The game room contains a pool table, video arcade console with 1,600 popular games, a foosball table, smart TV, a sleeper sofa, a full bath, a wood burning fireplace, and French doors that open out onto a private deck with a hot tub. The kitchen has granite counter tops with a peninsula with seating for 3, an electric range, microwave, refrigerator, coffee makers, dishwasher, blender, utensils, pots and pans, dishes, and a dining area with table for 6\. There is a laundry room with a washer, dryer, iron, ironing board, and utility sink for your convenience located behind the garage. There is a 2 car garage for parking and a spot on the driveway for a 3rd vehicle to park. The deck on the front entrance has a seating area with a propane fire pit. The deck extends through a breezeway to the large rear deck that contains an outdoor dining table with seating for 6 and several chairs for relaxing and viewing the mountains. There is a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking. This is a great cabin for viewing mountain wildlife, relaxing, and making special memories with friends and family. This cabin is 10 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg which offers shopping, music, hiking in the National Park, candy shops, putt putt golf, etc. as well as fabulous dining on the Parkway such as the Park Grill with \*Free Parking, The Peddler with \*Free Parking, Cherokee Grill, Best Little Italian, and out on 321 you will find the Alamo \*Free Parking. Delauder's BBQ (formerly in Gatlinburg) moved to 1305 Dolly Parton Pkwy in Sevierville and the best BBQ in our opinion anywhere with plenty of \*Free Parking. \*Free Parking to patrons of the restaurant. The home is approximately 25 minutes to Pigeon Forge, home to Dollywood, The Island, Space Race Adventures, Sky Fly Soar America, and several other attractions. The view from the cabin was breathtaking. Several levels of outside decks gave us a view of the mountains. The decks were nice to view the bears too. We saw bears daily throughout the neighborhood as we drove to and from town. The cabin itself was beautiful, very clean and cozy. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could possibly need for our stay. The views from both inside and outside are fantastic. You can see the mountains and the city lights down below. The cabin is very comfortable with a lot of seating. The game room was nice for some family fun. It was great to soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking. We loved being able to park in the garage. I didn’t realize while booking, but this cabin is UP in the mountains. The roads are not for the faint of heart, but the view is 100% worth it. We saw two bears on our drive in, and two more while we were unloading. The cabin had all the amenities we could need, the hosts were extremely responsive and helpful, and we had an amazing time! The Christmas tree was still up, which was perfect as we were still celebrating the holiday. We probably won’t be back to the Smokies for a couple years, but we’ll be staying at A Bear Above again! ##### Joelle M. This cabin was clean! Decorations for Christmas were beautiful. A fire in the fireplaces was the perfect way to relax and end the day! The hosts were easy to get in touch with. Stayed here for a spring break trip with our family of 4 plus my 2 parents. This home was perfect. Garage parking for both our cars, huge kitchen and living space. Each bedroom had a bathroom, perfect accommodations for our group. My kids (6 and 7) loved the pool table and arcade games on the lower level! Everyone had their own space, but there was ample living space for all of us to be together. The views are gorgeous. Lots of natural light in the house. We even saw a bear our first night! The cabin was absolutely amazing for our family vacation, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in the Smoky Mountains. Everything was exactly as described in the listing and one of the cleanest rental properties I’ve ever stayed, it was spotless! We absolutely loved the decks overlooking the mountains, even though we never saw any bears right by the cabin, we saw quite a few on our climb up the mountain from Ski Mountain Rd to the cabin. We enjoyed the pool a few times throughout the week, unfortunately did not use the hot tub, just too warm of a week for us to use it. This cabin was the perfect location of secluded but convenient with it being about 10 minutes to downtown Gatlinburg and about 15-25 minutes to so many popular trails in Smoky Mountain National Park. The only thing I would add is the drive up to the cabin was very steep and would definitely recommend all wheel or 4 wheel drive, which we had and did not have any trouble. I would highly recommend this cabin, it truly was the best!! ##### Jennifer R. Although there are only three bedrooms, the couches pull out into beds. The multi levels allow plenty of space to carve out personal time. The game room is a teen favorite. The view off the porches is amazing. The kitchen comes well stocked. There are plenty of extra blankets and quilts for kids sleeping on pull outs. Plenty of reading material, games and things to occupy a rainy day. No complaints at all! We would definitely return. If you are traveling deep in the winter, the curvy roads and higher elevation could be an issue. Definitely would recommend four-wheel-drive in the winter. ##### kristi G. The cabin is large and roomy and we never knew they were there. 5 stars 4) The drive up and down the mountain is no joke. It’s intense on beautiful. Add in some rain and wind and it’s better than a coaster at Dollywood. 5 stars. 5) We had everything we needed from comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms, and towels. 5 stars 6) We had great Wi-Fi. The wedding party on the other side of town did not. 5 stars 7) The kitchen had everything we needed and we were even able to get pizza and groceries delivered at 10p. 5 stars 8) Mark and Cindy were readily available to answer any questions. This might be the saddest review I’ve ever had to write. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO’s in many parts of the country and this has been my favorite. So much so, that I didn’t want to ever leave. We loved everything about the house. We had 5 adults and had more than enough space. We would cook one meal at the house daily and always had what we needed. If you cook a lot, you will need foil, ziploc baggies, storage containers. There are limited spices, so bring your own. The owners supply enough of everything to get you started: tp, paper towels, etc so if you stay longer than a few days, you will need to get your own supply. All rentals are different so this is just a heads up. The house is immaculate! The beds are comfy. There is a thermostat for upstairs and downstairs and we basically didn’t need either. We used the game room almost nightly. Location! Location! Location! Just incredible views! Daily bear visits. We had hoped to see at least one bear while we were there and saw bears everyday! We were very thankful for the two car garage!! The bears are nosy and will get in your car if you leave it unlocked. The road up the mountain is a little precarious if you have not done it before. The mountain store really came in handy but, of course, you do pay for the convenience. We had our regular groceries delivered by Publix which was super convenient.
