"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was a good choice to spend the night here and take a day trip to the busy San Sebastian. It was convenient to have breakfast included."

"An excellent location for an overnight stay en route to Portugal, with amazing views and plenty of space to relax and unwind after many hours in the car. The owners were friendly and very accommodating - providing recommendations for dinner and things to do. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet, and the continental breakfast in the morning was excellent. "

"Pleasant historical Parador, with nice garden. Comfortable room with nice bathroom, no view as in standard room at the back. Helpful and friendly reception and bar staff."

"Hotel was nice, easy check in but really Really small town, there’s nothing to do. I was there for business meetings, I had to go to Bilbao for having fun "

The hotel was beautifully laid out with stunning views. The staff were above and beyond incredible. They couldn’t do enough to help. Always on hand and so amenable. I had the best stay and if I could rate 11/10 I would.

Absolutely wonderful stay!
My fear when I stay in the area is always humidity/musty rooms… but in Ixua there’s no sign of anything less than pristine. It all looks, feels and is clean.
The rooms are extremely comfortable.
The views are well… worth everything.
The food and service absolutely amazing.
Thank you Roberto and Munya.

We had a wonderful stay, very peaceful and an immaculately maintained property. The host could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Cannot recommend more highly!

Great place, but some things let it down for top marks. Shower is tricky to use, hair dryer mount was loose on the wall, towels were soft and thick but other amenities were average. Breakfast is great though.

Place was lovely and the owners amazing. On the way out on my bike on a Sunday night my bike chain broke and I had the come back . The owners son brought out a load of tools for me but sadly we couldn't fix it that day . He then promptly ask if he could make as dinner as we couldn't get out which was really lovely food and gesture.
The next morning the owner gave me a lift into vitoria to pick up a bike part and a lift back again . Lovely people and once again thank you .
Thanks Richard and Sam...

The best area to stay in Ganzaga is the Old Town (Casco Viejo), especially around the Plaza Mayor and the surrounding streets.
The Old Town is the historic heart of Ganzaga, characterised by its narrow, pedestrian-friendly cobblestone streets and traditional Basque architecture. You'll find a delightful mix of pintxos bars, independent shops, and historic buildings here, all centred around the bustling Plaza Mayor and the nearby Cathedral of San Juan. It's a very walkable area, making it easy to explore on foot.
Couples often find the Old Town ideal for a romantic getaway. The evenings come alive with diners enjoying pintxos and wine, and there are plenty of intimate restaurants tucked away on side streets. Staying here provides a truly authentic experience of Ganzaga's culture and cuisine, with many hotels offering lovely views of the historic cityscape.
For those travelling with family and seeking a slightly quieter stay with more open spaces, the Ensanche district, particularly near the Parque de Doña Casilda de Iturrizar, is a good option. This area is more modern, with wider boulevards and a more relaxed pace. It's still well-connected to the Old Town by public transport or a pleasant walk.
Families appreciate the Ensanche for its proximity to the large park, which offers playgrounds and plenty of room for children to run around. Hotels in this area often have larger rooms and may provide amenities like swimming pools, which can be a plus for families.
When is the best time to go to Ganzaga?
The best time to go to Ganzaga is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.
During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and towns without the intense heat of summer or the chill of winter. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, which means a more relaxed experience at popular attractions and easier access to restaurants and accommodations.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, spring and autumn offer superb conditions. The countryside is lush and green in spring, with wildflowers in bloom, while autumn brings a beautiful array of colours to the landscapes and vineyards. It's an excellent time for couples looking for a romantic escape or solo travellers seeking a peaceful retreat.
If you're interested in culinary experiences, these months often coincide with local harvest festivals, particularly in autumn, offering opportunities to sample regional produce and wines at their freshest.
