Good option for Galway visit

Posted 13-Aug-2016
Pros: Beds were great. Large room. Easy/free parking.
Location: Took a taxi to Galway. Walked the beach.
Nice hotel close to beach. Great beds. Free parking. We decided to take a taxi to Galway shops since it was too long a walk but they have a bus available that would have saved us $. Only stayed one night. Price was high, but we were in a bind an needed a place to stay that could hold three adults last minute and this hotel filled that need.

Great facilities. There was a live band that was really good while we there. They played some Irish folk along with American rock and it was a lot of fun. Great food and the staff were great. Also, 15 minutes or less from Galway city center .

Wonderful hotel with all the amenities you could hope to have! Close to the city, but far enough away that it wasn't crowded or hectic. Cabs came quickly and could be called from a button right at the front desk. Breakfast was included and delicious and the bar and restaurant areas were very nice.

Pros: Friendly staff; clean rooms; workout facilities
Cons: Air circulation and larger window openings in rooms without air conditioning.
Location: Location was nice because there weren't other buildings butted up to this hotel and it was next to a nice park. It's also directly across from a beach
We had a twin room. The first night, we were in a room without air conditioning. It was located right over the entrance to the hotel where people smoke. Though it was cool outside, the window only opened about six inches, so the room was stuffy and too warm. Add to that, smoke wafting up from the sidewalk. The staff was very accommodating and switched us to an air conditioned room the second night. NOTE: If you want a room with air conditioning, ask for that at time of booking or at checkin. The premises of the hotel are very nice and similar to big hotels in the U.S. - like Marriotts with ballrooms, etc. The workout facilities were exceptional, as they also serve as a private health club (called "leisure centers" here). We didn't realize how nice the rooms were (even the first night) until checking into a similarly-priced hotel in Dublin. Cleanliness was very good, as were the restaurants and pub within the hotel.
