We are "BOI" (Born on the Island) and love showcasing the best things Galveston has to offer. We are less than 4 houses away from the best BBQ on the Island, and a quick walk to the Beach & best restaurants and nightlife. The garage (with access to the washer and dryer) is shared. Other things to note Regarding your pets, we are also dog-owners and dog-lovers, and understand how nice it is to have your four-legged family members welcome, too. We appreciate the La Quinta policy- all breeds, all sizes, no charges. We have tried to adopt the same policy, and ask that you help us maintain it by: (1) ensure your pets are flea-free, (2) make sure pets are up-to-date on vaccines, (3) keep the property in good shape, trying to keep the effects of shed to a minimum (i.e. no shedding pets on the sofa/bed if possible), (4) clean up poo, (5) respect other guests that may be staying in the garage apartment, and (6) do not leave dogs that cannot be left alone, do not bring dogs that must be crated unless you bring a crate or dogs that have aggression issues unless you will be with them at all times when others are present. THAT SAID, IF YOU WANT TO BRING YOUR PET(S) WITH YOU, YOU MUST TELL US WHEN YOU BOOK. We need to let our cleaning service know. If you do not, EXTRA FEES WILL APPLY. Across the street(ish) from Queen's BBQ, a 2 blocks to Brick House Tavern & Tap and Joe's Crab Shack. Not a fan of the National Chains? Not a problem, we love our local restaurants and bars too! Gumbo diner, Bronco Burritos, SHRIMP n' STUFF!!! All so close. With all the delicious seafood, how will you chose! And, of course, the MAIN attraction, the beach is a short 2 blocks where you can get your sun on and ride bikes along the seawall for some breathtaking views (and STELLAR people watching!!!) The Historic Galveston Island Pleasure Pier is less than a 1 mile away (a SUPER easy bike ride), and the Historic Strand (2.3 miles) for more delicious dining options and CANDY at La King's! The Galveston cruise terminal is less than 3 miles and Schlitterban/Moody Gardens, as is less than 4 miles away. Pro-Insider tip, for a good free time with your family, take a ride (in your car, or on a bike) out to the ferry terminal to Port Boliver in the evenings and take a free ferry ride (15 minutes each direction) over (and back) and watch the dolphins jumping up and around the bay. The kids will love it. There is street parking available for free. There are a variety of bicycle sizes for you to use in the garage, and you're welcome to store your own bikes in the garage. Galveston has spent a significant amount of time and money putting in easy to use bike paths throughout the East end making it very bike-friendly. It's often quicker to get around on foot/bike than it is to get stuck in your car on the seawall. Had some trouble with gnats and water bugs throughout our stay, which was gross and unsettling, though owner was responsive to calls and management. Couldn't find the laundry room until our last day - in a different house, in basement, needed an unidentified key to get it - so would leave this information in the house for next guests. We enjoyed staying at your place. The location was good it is close to stores and places to eat if you chose to eat out. Only one thing I would say and it is not a negative just a suggestion. Parking is not ideal if multiple cars are being brought. You park on street and if you need additional parking, it's not that close. House is dog friendly which is okay but, when we arrived the living room was flea infested. They sprayed but they were still hanging around. Didn't feel comfortable hanging out in the living room. Notified owner of the fleas a 2nd time only to read a message of grr. No apologies. ##### Jessica G. The biggest issues we had were thw cleanliness and one of the neighbors. We noticed the house on the left has boarded up windows and was in poor condition. We heard around the neighborhood that those residents will vandalize any cars parked in front of their property and they were unwell. We noticed on two separate occasions that they were eavesdropping on us through the fence and I think I saw someone get close to the fence to spy on us. When we arrived, there were things scattered all over the place and the parking passes were missing when we arrived. One of the owners had new ones delivered to us but the commication with her was not great. There are 3 BBQ grills on the property and ALL THREE WERE MOLDY. We had to clean the one with the least amount of mold to the best of our ability to use it for cooking. Bottom line is this place is not being inspected by the owners nor is it properly maintained. Additionally, I didn't recieve any information or instructions because that is supposed to show up on the Vrbo app. Since I booked through Orbitz, that trip didnt show up on Vrbo and I had to message Frederick to get the information we needed. Frederick was very nice and very commutative so that made everything easier.
