The Top of Denmark is home to the country’s only palm beach, relaxed shopping, seal safaris and great days out by boat to some of the Kattegat’s most enchanting islands.

Travel to Frederikshavn to enjoy an exciting stay in a lively harbour town. Frederikshavn has a charming old town centre with lots of great shops and places to eat. The town’s location on the Kattegat means fine sandy beaches and lots of opportunities for maritime adventure. That's why it’s the ideal venue for a weekend break or a longer holiday. There's lots to do, regardless of the season or your interests.

If you’re visiting Frederikshavn in the summer, take advantage of a free city bike to get down to Palmestranden – a fantastic town beach with palms, BBQ grills and beach volley ball. Or hop aboard the cutter Seadog for a trip to Læsø or the Hirsholmene nature reserve. There are also seal safaris – with a 99% seal guarantee!

Frederikshavn is in northern Jutland, Denmark’s most popular tourist region. Thanks to its strategic location, the town played a vital role during WWII, when the occupying Germans built a massive gun emplacement just outside the town at Bangsbo Fort. Visit this well-preserved fort where you can be subjected to an interrogation by the Gestapo, check out the children’s bunker or try your hand at a nerve-jangling bunker mission, in which you have to avoid detection by the Germans.

If you want to get a good impression of modern Frederikshavn, climb the 315 steps up the Cloostårnet, to enjoy a fantastic view over the rooftops. In good weather, you can see all the way to Skagen and Læsø. Get even closer to the local area by visiting the authentic fishing port of Strandby, just a stone’s throw from Frederikshavn. Enjoy a walk along the quayside, soak up the atmosphere and buy the freshest of fish to take home.

If you’ve got the family with you, don’t miss the lush tropical water park at Reef Resort. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the wealth of pools, bubble baths and slides. Don’t miss FunHouse Frederikshavn, a massive indoor playground with action and fun for the whole family.

A trip to Frederikshavn is just the perfect combination of active things to do, urban charm and scenery. Enjoy a stress-free break in Frederikshavn – the most charming town in northern Jutland.
