    The Area:

Sailboat Bend is a historic area located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Here's a breakdown of its key characteristics:

Location: Nestled between the New River and the F.E.C. Railway tracks, Sailboat Bend boasts a unique waterside location.

History: Designated as the only historic district in Fort Lauderdale, Sailboat Bend offers a glimpse into the city's early development. Established in the early 1900s, it was originally a haven for working-class residents.

Character: Sailboat Bend is known for its charming, smaller houses with architectural styles reflecting the region's traditions. The area offers a vibrant and diverse atmosphere.

Attractions: While not directly on the beach, Sailboat Bend provides easy access to the New River and its waterways. The area itself offers a variety of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, catering to a young professional crowd. The Broward Centre for the Performing Arts is also located nearby.

Overall, Sailboat Bend provides a unique and characterful experience for those seeking an alternative to the typical Fort Lauderdale beachfront location.

    Getting Around:

Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of ways to get around, depending on your needs and budget:

    Public Transport:

Broward County Transit (BCT): The BCT bus system covers most of Fort Lauderdale and connects to nearby cities. Fares are affordable, and some routes, like the Sun Trolley, are free (with exceptions).

Water Taxi: Explore the city's waterways and access waterfront restaurants and attractions with the water taxi service.

Tri-Rail: This commuter train connects Fort Lauderdale with Miami and West Palm Beach, offering a convenient option for longer trips.

    Ridesharing:

Uber and Lyft: Popular ridesharing services operate in Fort Lauderdale, providing a convenient and affordable way to get around, especially at night or for short distances.

    Other Options:

Rental Cars: Renting a car gives you the most flexibility, but be prepared for parking costs, especially in popular areas.

Bicycles: Fort Lauderdale offers bike lanes and a relatively flat terrain, making it a good option for exploring specific areas or taking a leisurely ride.

Walking: The beach area and some areas are walkable, allowing you to experience the city at a slower pace.

Consider these factors when choosing your mode of transport:

Budget: Public transport and walking are the most budget-friendly options.

Distance: For longer distances, consider ridesharing or renting a car.

Time: Public transport can take longer than taxis or ridesharing services.

Convenience: Ridesharing and taxis offer door-to-door service, while public transport requires walking to stops.

Traffic: Factor in potential traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, when choosing between driving and public transport.

By considering these options and your priorities, you can choose the best way to get around Fort Lauderdale and experience all it has to offer.

    Other Things to Note:

We take great pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable space for our guests. Our team follows strict cleaning protocols, and we regularly fumigate the property to keep it pest-free. However, due to Florida’s warm climate, high humidity, and the property's proximity to the water, it’s common for local insects, including the occasional roach, to make an appearance—even after our best efforts.

Most of the time, you might find them already deceased as a result of our regular pest control. While this is a rare occurrence, we believe in being transparent. If you’re particularly sensitive to insects and this could impact your stay, we suggest considering another option to ensure your comfort.

Communication was very good. The host Gaby was very responsive with any questions I had for her. The place was as advertised in the photos. Perfect for our 3 night stay in Ft Lauderdale. Location was great as it’s very close to the Arts District and Downtown area. Can walk to many surrounding restaurants and also to the Riverwalk. The rooms were clean and the beds were super comfortable. A few negatives that could be easily be fixed which would make this a 5 star rating I personally would recommend additional frying pans for cooking. There was only one of the smallest size pan. Had to cut my bacon in half to get it to fit in the pan. Additional silverware, specifically spoons would be great. The biggest “fix” for this VRBO would be to address the door jamb issue. The lock barely catches and is very loose when closed. If someone wanted to get in it wouldn’t take much. Doesn’t scream “secure” especially while you are out of the place. Once inside there is a deadbolt which makes the door more secure, but only when someone is inside. One side note, the outlets in the bedrooms are not in the most convenient locations but really not a big deal at all. Certainly not a deal breaker. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay again if in the area.

Do not stay at the rental property

Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to stay in this rental property the days we selected. There were so many things were wrong with vacation rental upon arriving. Upon our arrival the was minimal lighting walking towards the unit . We had to use the flash light on our phone. When we walked up on the unit the door was wide open. We had to search the unit to make sure no one was in the unit. We reached to the host about the door being open, we were told to manipulate the lock by the host/management and the lock did not work. The unit was roach invested. The bathroom was dirty and there were roaches on the towels. The tub faucet did not turn completely off. In our contract we suppose to have a parking space but someone parked in our space and the only other park was on the street which was residential parking. If we would’ve parked we would’ve gotten towed. We reached out to the host/management and we called multiple times. There was no response until we reached out to VRBO the next morning to discuss all of the things that were wrong with the unit and we did not feel safe because the broken lock, along with the unit being roach infested. We left the property immediately and stayed at a near by hotel, which we had to sit in the lobby until the morning time to get a room. Keep in mind that we had an infant traveling with us, which was my grandson. We were inconvenienced in so many ways. This entire experience was a nightmare.
