"When you first drive up to the property the look of it isn’t very encouraging. The front of the property could use some sprucing up. BUT don’t let that first impression get you. The inside of the hotel is clean. The staff was amazing (helped my husband carry luggage to the room). The room was clean. The bed was so comfortable. All rooms face the river. We were on the second floor and had a balcony; the first floor had walk out to the yard. I HIGHLY recommend giving this hotel a try. I’m a very picky traveler and I’m glad I didn’t give in to my first impression."

"Washer and dryer came in handy. Pool and hot tub was clean. There was a little workout area. Room are decent, clean and perfect location for all adventures. I would stay again."

"What a place! When setting the reservation for the cabin, I didn't realize the property is so much more. The "River Cabin", the home base and lodging for my buddy and me for our fly fishing excursion, was historic, comfortable, a rustic beauty that had the modern amenities (i.e. internet, air conditioning, nice kitchen, awesome porch, deck with grill, etc.) we needed, and overlooked a classic meadow that bordered a beautiful stream. Surprisingly, however, the entire property, quiet and private, also contained 5 additional beautiful log cabins, from what I understand, all available for reservation! I could envision a family reunion here, or a group of close friends renting each and every one, to enjoy their own private, natural setting, in a beautiful region of a beautiful State, Michigan. I would be remiss if I did not say some words about the owner. Harold was a gentleman and a great host. He was responsive, conscientious, respectful of your privacy, and a downright good person. Thank you for your hospitality, Harold. I will definitely be back."

"This was our second year at the cottage on the River. Both the cottage and grounds incl 2 docks were in excellent condition. Our granddaughters loved the loft for their own private apartment. The pool table got a lot of use during the nightly tournaments. Hosts were excellent to work with and new deck furniture was very nice for evening dinners while watching the boat parade"

"It's great to stay at a lake! There over the 4th and it was so nice to have the option of staying in (with everything you need for a relaxing summer day) or leave to go adventure. This place was well maintained, neat as a pin and well stocked. Happy we booked it."

"Great home base for adventures while exploring Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Kitchen is well stocked with possibly my favorite fridge ever. Beds are very comfortable, and deck entices with a woodsy feel.Host was very communicative and had the house ready to go with no issues."
