Beautiful views

Posted 22-Sep-2017
Pros: Location and rustic feel.
Cons: Hard to find parking in the remote lot when lodge is full.
Location: Beautiful location! Canoeing on lake and hiking.
Quiet location and very friendly and helpful staff.

Pros: Location, location, ditto!
Cons: Cosmetic upgrades.... I had no cross ventilation in my room...the fireplace (woodburning) was impossible to keep lit. The room was hot.
For the price point I think there should be a makeover of the facilities. While decently maintained, there were enough eye sores to suggest improvements should be made. The lake and hiking trail going around it are a HUGE draw. One does not need to stay here to avail oneself of this....lots of day trippers!

Beautiful location

Hotel staff was unfriendly. It was like you owed them a favor for staying. Having to take shuttle back and forth to car was inconvenient . Grossly overpriced for what you got.

Close to national parks

Posted 12-Sep-2017
You can't beat the location. It's close to national parks, however the lodge is so basic and it doesn't have good amenities - no refrigerator, no tv, no safe box to store your valuable items and no wifi/internet access. There's a wifi in the main lodge only but it is so slow.

Trouble in Paradise

Posted 11-Sep-2017
I stayed at this property ten years ago; unfortunately, the area has changed for the worse. When we were there, the lodge was inundated with tour bus visitors who were drinking, playing loud music, and running drone boats next to the shore. Yappy dogs were everywhere on the lakeside trail. The real problems, however, related to the Lodge. At lunch, the small restaurant was obviously short-staffed, which cause long lines for tables. For dinner, the food was just average (and not nearly on par with offerings at Pyramid Lake, Banff Springs, or Lake Louise). The following morning, I exhibited symptoms of MSG toxicity. That same evening, we requested a lighter weight blanket to replace the winter-weight duvet. Housekeeping left it in our room and had not noticed that the white blanket had a large (18" diameter) urine stain - which I can only assume was caused by a previous renter using it as a sleeping pad for their dog.

Not worth the money to stay here

Posted 11-Sep-2017
There was a rat that came into our room during the middle of the night. My wife had a bag of berries in a zip lock bag that was chewed through. The room we were in looked like it was in poor condition qith things looking quite wore out. For more than $400 dollars a night, this was unacceptable.

Good rustic hotel for the able bodied

Posted 10-Sep-2017
Pros: The setting was beautiful.
Cons: The attitude of the staff. Consistency of the food in the dining room. Transportation around the resort.
Location: Great if you plan on staying near the resort; not great if you want to venture away from the resort. The Takakkaw Falls were a big hit (thanks Joe).
Great choice for those looking to disconnect in a beautiful setting with nature at your doorstep. Not a good choice for those who are older or not able bodied. The rooms are rustic, dusty and not set up for anyone who is older ( shower mat or hand grips). The terrain is hilly. The staff is, for the most part, apathetic. The best interaction we had was with the maintenance staff (Joe) who was the only person to show any interest in us. The transportation from the parking lot to the hotel is clunky -- so much so that the moved our car to the day parking lot as we were unsure that the staff could pull off an early morning departure. The food in the dining room was hit and miss.

Peaceful Stay Next to Beautiful Lake

Posted 08-Sep-2017
Pros: The food was good, the views were spectacular and the peace and quite was gladly welcomed.
Cons: The carpets in the room needed to be cleaned or replaced.
Location: The location is beautiful and it's just far enough away from the crowds yet close enough to take half-day trips to the must-see surrounding areas.
We really loved our two nights at Emerald Lake Lodge. This was a last minute trip and we hadn't planned on staying here, but we are glad we did. Our long walk around the beautiful Emerald Lake was serene and peaceful, with magnificent views and lots of photo ops. The quite, low key atmosphere was really wonderful and relaxing.

Ok hotel with beautiful views

Posted 03-Sep-2017
The hotel could use an updating. The food was excellent especially the dinners. There are magnificent views of the mountains and lake. However there were literally thousands of tourists walking through the hotel grounds daily.
