About this property

Dar Sghira: Private fully Renovated Small Riad, Rooftop, Heart of Medina, Fiber

  • Dar Sghira: An Enchanted Escape in the Heart of the Ancient Medina

Experience the Moroccan art of living in a 400-year-old historic home, entirely renovated by Mâalems (Master Artisans) to become a sanctuary of softness. Between its intimate patio and its panoramic rooftop, Dar Sghira is an invitation to absolute serenity.

The Patio: The Peaceful Soul of the Home.

From the moment you enter, let yourself be embraced by the magic of our traditional patio. The true heartbeat of the Riad, this light-filled space is a haven of peace where time seems to stand still. Protected by centuries-old walls, it embodies the "cocooning" spirit of the house—the perfect place to gather, enjoy a tea, or simply savor the silence.

A Rare Brightness: A Privileged View of the Outside.

Dar Sghira possesses an exceptional and very rare asset in the Medina: windows opening to the outside. In the library and one of the bedrooms, beautiful openings invite natural light and offer clear views of the surroundings, with no one looking in (no vis-à-vis).

The Rooftop: An Oasis Between Heaven and Earth.

To extend the magic, head up to our 40 m² rooftop terrace. Entirely private and not overlooked, it offers a spectacular 360° panorama of the thousand-year-old minarets and the mountains of Fès. It is a private balcony suspended over history, perfect for sun-drenched breakfasts or starlit evenings.

Absolute Comfort Throughout the Seasons "At Dar Sghira, your well-being is our priority.

Each room is equipped with its own reversible air conditioning, allowing you to create your perfect climate, whether you seek refreshing coolness during the golden summer or a cozy warmth in winter.

To ensure the patio remains the heart of your stay year-round, we have added a radiant heating system. It provides a gentle, enveloping warmth, letting you enjoy the magic of the open sky and the serenity of the patio even on cooler evenings

    Absolute Modern Comfort.

We have blended ancient charm (antiques hand-picked from the Medina, noble materials) with today’s high-end requirements:

"Ready-to-Relax" Welcome: To ensure your relaxation begins instantly, all beds are carefully prepared before your arrival. Just drop your bags and enjoy the moment.

Cutting-Edge Technology: Stay connected with Fiber Optic Wi-Fi (100 Mbps), a rare performance in the heart of the old city.

Personalized Service: Oustad, our multilingual correspondent, looks after your well-being, while Fatima can prepare traditional Moroccan meals or breakfasts upon request, to be savored in the intimacy of your patio.

    Why Choose Dar Sghira?
This home is more than just a place to stay; it is an experience. It is the luxury of silence, the beauty of expert craftsmanship, and the privilege of a place entirely your own at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Treat yourself to an enchanted escape. Book your stay at Dar Sghira today.

Great Riad in Medina

We enjoyed our few nights in this Riad. Ousted was very helpful with our stay. He organized porters, a tour and breakfasts and was very responsive to our questions. We were comfortable during our stay. The 3rd bedroom is creative. The laundry and the rooftop patio were a bonus. Wifi is limited to main floor but still good. Would stay again!

We loved the house and the location in the heart of the medina. The weather was a little cooler than we expected, and we all caught colds, but having Fatima, the wonderful chef, bring us warm dinners and breakfasts when asked was so nice. Heat in the individual rooms was fine, but we weren't quite prepared to spend a lot of time in the central area. Overall, the house was beautiful and clean, Oustad helped us get in and out of Fez whenever asked, Fatima was great, being in the medina rather than a tourist area was perfect, and we'd come back in a minute

We had a lovely 2-week stay in Dar Sghira as a family of four. The house was well-equipped with sufficient linens, towels, and kitchen supplies, plus lots of guide books and maps to review. Our young sons especially enjoyed the experience of staying in such a unique, historic house. The mini-splits in the bedrooms kept us all comfortable during the chilly January nights. The weather was a bit too cool and rainy to take full advantage of the private rooftop terrace, but it seems like a great, bonus living space during in other seasons. Laurent was a great communicator and made sure we felt welcome throughout our stay. The home's location is convenient for exploring the Medina, though be prepared to wander and get lost as it’s part of the fun!

Adventure in Fes

Our stay in Fes was brief, too brief, but it was the highlight of our trip across southern Spain to Morocco and then France. The Dar Sghira house proved to be the perfect place for us to unwind from the excitement and fatigue of travel and of exploring the medina. We were very comfortable there. I especially enjoyed the view from the rooftop patio. Our guide Mohamed shepherded us around the city and to several artisanal cooperatives to see artists at work with textiles, leather, fragrances, ceramics, etc. He was an excellent companion and gave us a wealth of information, matching the level of our interest in history. We got a keen sense of the medina as a living community, not just a museum, even though it has such a storied past. We chose to have multiple meals prepared by Fatima to eat in the home, and we took a cooking class with her, which was enjoyable (and rewarding!). She also helped us with the arrangements for the hammam. We were grateful for all she did.

Great spot!

A great spot in an amazing city. The apartment is apparently at least 300 years old, and has a huge amount of character. And an amazing view from a terrace. It's an incredible spot. As with anything in Fez, there are stairs. Also the Medina does not allow cars, and the apartment is near the heart of Medina, so it does involve considerable walking to get there. But the host Oustad will meet you at the parking lot outside the Medina gates with a cart for your luggage, and show you all the ropes. Fatima also made some amazing local meals for us, she was a great cook. All in all a 5 star experience!

Oustad a repondu à nos demandes : taxis, porteurs.
