"location is very hard to find. in the middle of a labyrinthe where the GPS is of no help, when we ask people around us if they know where is Riad Mazar, no one seems heard this word before. after more than one hour, I finally found the hotel but no place to park your car. finding the hotel and a parking spot was the most frustrating part. room smaller than expected, elevator (fit only one person at a time) works every other time. on the positive side: staff very nice and doing the best they can to help you. air condition works fine, the place is clean."
"We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Fes. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with anything we needed. The location was convenient for exploring the city, making it easy to visit local attractions and enjoy the area. The food was also a pleasant surprise, with a good variety of options and great flavors. The hotel felt family-friendly and provided a comfortable base for our visit. I would definitely recommend it to families looking for a convenient, welcoming, and enjoyable stay in Fes."
"Exceptional stay — the best of our Morocco trip
We stayed here from May 13–15, 2026, and had an excellent experience. This was the best hotel stay of our entire Morocco trip (Marrakech, the Sahara Desert, Fes, Chefchaouen, Tangier, and Casablanca).
Our deluxe suite on the first floor was huge, elegant, and full of character. The ceiling must have been at least 15 feet high, which made the room feel grand and beautiful. The bedroom, separate living room, and antique-style bathroom were all very spacious, and the suite even had a charming loft area on the side.
What impressed us most, though, was the outstanding service. Mahmoud was truly wonderful. You can feel that he is genuine and takes real pride in his work — it is clearly not just a job for him. He loves what he does and helped us better understand the city, the culture, and the local way of life.
One especially memorable example was when I realized I had left my belt behind. Mahmoud checked the cost of different options and suggested that using Morocco’s fast delivery service would be the best way to get it back. He arranged the delivery and even communicated with locals in Arabic to make sure everything was handled properly and delivered to me befoire handing back to NY.
Overall, this was a very, very impressive stay. The room was beautiful, the property had great character, and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in Morocco."
"Riad Fes Maya is a stunningly beautiful building. The room we had was ornate and spacious, but dark. Natural light filtered in from the courtyard at the expense of privacy, a concept implicitly understood by the other guests. We enjoyed dinner on the rooftop deck twice during our stay and found breakfasts enjoyable as long as we could stay out of the hot late May sun and out of the glass enclosed room where most guests sat. Staying here in late spring was a constant challenge to stay cool.
The woman running the Riad, Sama, is pleasant but not always helpful, despite her well-meaning efforts. The Medina tour she arranged was free but consisted in substantial part of visits to shops where pressure to buy goods was palpable. She told us the Medina was gated and closed at 7 pm each night preventing anyone from entering or leaving, which was not true, as we has dinner inside it our second night, escorted to and from another riad by a bellboy. Our departure to another hotel in time for a rendezvous at 9 am was nearly missed, despite being reserved ~3 months in advance, due to understaffing.
All in all we enjoyed our stay as a bit of an adventure. Hearing the call to prayer on the rooftop deck from mosques all across the Medina was an experience not to be missed."
