Cliffs Edge Retreat

Cliffs Edge Retreat
2.5 star property
Tors Cove
9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (268 reviews)
"We had a wonderful stay here! The restaurant on-site was absolutely delicious—definitely a highlight of our trip. Our room was also spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The only minor downsides were that we wished the property was dog-friendly, and it would have been great if the chairs in the room had footrests for a bit of extra comfort. That being said, the pros far outweighed the cons. We would absolutely recommend."

"Lovely location, right on the East Coast Trail. Easy to find. Sauna was wonderful. Room was great - cooking facilities were nice to reduce eating out costs. Could hear people in adjacent rooms (just everyday noises, they were not being particularly noisy/partying)."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Ferryland?
The best area to stay in Ferryland is the village centre, particularly around the lighthouse and along the main coastal road.

This area is the heart of Ferryland, offering immediate access to its most iconic landmark, the Ferryland Lighthouse, and the scenic East Coast Trail. The main road winds along the rugged coastline, providing stunning ocean views and connecting the few local establishments. It's a small, spread-out community, so staying central means you're close to the main points of interest.

Couples seeking a tranquil escape often find this area perfect. The sheer natural beauty, the opportunity for quiet walks along the coastline, and the chance to spot whales from your accommodation create a truly romantic setting. The historic lighthouse itself is a major draw, offering a great experience with its café and tours.

For travellers interested in nature and outdoor activities, the central area provides direct access to the East Coast Trail. This world-class hiking path offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic and opportunities for birdwatching and exploring the dramatic cliffs.
When is the best time to go to Ferryland?
The best time to visit Ferryland is during the summer months, from late June to early September, when the weather is at its mildest and the main attractions are fully operational.

During this period, you'll find the historic Colony of Avalon archaeological site and the iconic Ferryland Lighthouse Cafe open daily. The coastal trails are also most accessible and pleasant for walking, offering stunning ocean views without the chill of other seasons. This timeframe is ideal for travellers who want to make the most of the outdoor activities and cultural experiences available.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the long, bright days allowing for leisurely exploration of the coastline and enjoying meals with a view at the Lighthouse Cafe. The milder temperatures are superb for scenic drives along the Irish Loop and picnics by the sea.

Families will also find summer the most convenient time to visit. Children can enjoy the outdoor space at the Colony of Avalon and the generally calm seas for boat tours, which are more readily available.
