Learn more about Ferns

To visit the village of Ferns in the Republic of Irelands’ County Wexford is to feel as if you have stepped back in time. Originally established as long ago as the 6th century it was once the capital of region known as the Kingdom of Leinster, and as if this wasn’t enough to make you feel as though you’ve stepped into an episode of Game of Thrones, the centre of the village is still dominated by the magnificent remains of Ferns Castle, a fortress originally built in the 13th century.

"Great place to stay if exploring Wexford town and county. It is about 25 minutes drive to Rosslare port and so a convenient stop if booked for an early sailing. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Bar food is excellent and reasonably priced. Car parking is free for guests, beside the hotel and fairly secure for motorcycles. Would definitely stay again.
