"Nice room on the executive floor. Quiet & clean"
Great room, staff super friendly and helpful. 5-10 minutes to walk to downtown. Outside terrace for cocktails and dinner. Need power converter if from America. Food at the hotel was okay, had better but the hotel itself was outstanding and would definitely return there.

"Nice Inn Close to the Centre of Cork"
Great location in Cork. We were welcomed to the inn with an offer of scones and tea. Unasked, the staff provided a map of the area and suggestions of where to go and what to do. The room was very clean and comfortable. The room ammenities were good considering the age of the building. One of the few inns we came across that had a small fridge in the room. The available breakfast was amazing. We opted to stay for an extra night.

"Hayfield Manor Hotel - Cork"
Excellent hotel. Close to Cork Airport and Cork City. Ideal for a relaxing break. Staff worked very hard to make one feel special. Loved the method of registering and settling the account via a personal receptionist and being sat down at a desk. The gentleman at the door was friendly, welcoming and offered advice when asked. Taxi requests were responded to promptly. The resident's lounge was comfortable, a nice retreat for a drink following a meal. Restaurant excellent for both breakfast and an evening meal. Restaurant staff attentive. Found the taxi services used excellent - drivers were friendly. Taxi prices were reasonable.

We were welcomed and shown where to park in a little back lot near the second B&B building. We had a huge bright room with a nice view.

"Nice hotel, 5mins walk to Cork centre & station"
A 3 night stay, 10-15mins walk from the train station, 5mins walk to Cork centre, located on the North side of the river. Parking for around 25 cars, which normally seems full, but I believe there is provision for extra parking (I didn't use this). Friendly staff throughout, nice modern, light, large, airy public areas - restaurant, bar, foyer, etc. Nice swimming pool with sauna rooms, kid's pool, and jacuzzi pool. Only 1.5m deep, but long enough to allow a decent swim - you'll need a swim cap, or borrow one from the desk, they'll provide a towel. Rooms are large enough, and comfortable, with a desk/dressing table, hairdryer, telly, easy chairs/table and WiFi. Ironing board and iron was quickly provided on request.. The hotel is not particularly noisy, but is close to the city centre, so there will be the occasional noises from outside, such as bin lorries, sirens etc. It's not on a major route out of town, so disturbances are minimal. Nice self-serve buffet breakfast, with a large selection of euro or trad-style breakfast foods. One or two sections of the hotel are ready for redecorating, but this is only apparent on close inspection, and they are by no means shabby. The hotel has a nice feel of an old building being well looked after. Good value, for the facilities provided, and rate paid. I would happily stay there again.

"Hotel Ashley"
Staff was pleasant, helpful and informative. Keys need to be left at reception but this isn't a big problem. Room was spacious (for one) and had a large bathtub which was great to relax in after a long month of travels!

Pocket Guide: Cork Fernhill Golf And Country Club Hotels

Tucked away on the hillside overlooking the charming town of Carrigaline, the Fernhill Golf and Country Club is a hidden jewel of the Emerald Isle. This combination of charming three star hotel and 18 hole golf course is a local institution and is a firm favourite with residents of Carrigaline and Cork as well as overseas travellers who enjoy playing a round or getting a round in.

The hotel complex is large but understated and blends in with its surroundings. The modern hotel building has clean lines and an appealing visage which allows guests and visitors to enjoy the beautiful countryside of County Cork.

    Beautiful Landscapes Around Fernhill

Fernhill Golf and Country Club nestles in lush green hills above the Owenabue River Valley. From the hotel and the golf course, you can see down past the town into Cork Harbour and catch glimpses of yachtsmen sailing on the waters. The panorama extends round to Monkstown and beyond and is sure to distract all but the most dedicated golfer.

Staying at the Fernhill Golf and Country Club

Fernhill has 38 rooms and 10 cottages dotted around the course, so there is plenty of space for guests. The family-run hotel prides itself on a friendly welcome for all guests and has rooms of the highest calibre for its 3 star rating, with TV, a writing desk and internet access. Many of the rooms have marvellous views of the golf course. Guests will also find a well-equipped gym and an outdoor tennis court.

    Restaurant

The hotel has an airy, sunlit breakfast room, the Clubhouse bar that is packed with golfing memorabilia and the superb Fairways restaurant that is popular across the county. Fairways is renowned for using the best seasonal and local produce and offers a balanced menu with options for vegetarians. Parents will be delighted to discover that there is also an extensive children’s menu.

    The Golf Course

For many guests, the main attraction of the Fernhill Golf and Country Club will be the 18 hole golf course on its doorstep. The parkland course runs to a par 69 and is extremely well maintained. Fernhill has a reputation for being kept in excellent condition with rolling fairways and excellent putting greens. The course design takes advantage of the hills to allow the course to drain quickly and is sheltered from strong winds by a good number of mature trees. Golfers say the course presents a decent challenge for even the professionals, while allowing novices to play without undue difficulty.

Easy Reach of Many Great Attractions

If golf and some nice walks around the hotel grounds are not enough to keep you occupied, there are several other places within easy reach. The city of Cork is a short drive away and there are lots of activities around Cork Harbour, while the famous Blarney Stone is a little further away in Blarney Castle.
