Once part of a historic coastal hotel, Cornerstone Cottage Acadia is a 100+ year-old retreat where charm and character linger in every detail. Uneven wooden floors whisper the stories of footsteps long past, while open windows invite in the salty ocean air. Though there is no air conditioning, the cottage rests beneath a canopy of shade, and fans are thoughtfully placed to keep the rooms cool and breezy. In winter, the indoor wood-burning stove adds warmth and romance, creating a cozy year-round escape. Perfectly situated for those searching for cottages in Bar Harbor or Acadia vacation rentals, this is a place to slow down, relax, and become part of the story.

The Space:
* Bedrooms & Living Areas: Charm-filled, comfortable spaces with uneven wooden floors and cozy furnishings. Bedrooms will be revitalized in 2026 by an interior designer whose work evokes beauty and emotion.
* Kitchen & Dining: Full kitchen with large range of cooking spices, lobster pot, slow cooker, blender, hand mixer, and wine fridge. Drip coffee maker, French press, and pour-over available. Tea and coffee provided.
* Entertainment & Work: Smart TV with Hulu Live, ESPN+, Disney+, Bluetooth Bose speakers, WiFi perfect for working remotely, and a digital guest book with local recommendations.
* Outdoor Living: Waterfront with private shore access and mooring buoy, covered porch, gas grill, fire pit (firewood and roasting sticks provided), large yard with yard games.

This cottage exceeded expectations all around. Beautiful tranquil location on the water. All the amenities you desire and more. About 20 minutes from dining options. Check out Sylvia’sCafe in Ellsworth for breakfast. We would love to stay longer next time. Jenny is the perfect host and a proud owner of this treasure on the bay. Did I mention the close proximity to Acadia?

Fabulous place for our cousin vacation in Maine. Amazing ocean view, great back porch with rocking chairs, and a wonderfully appointed house with comfortable beds, a great room for gathering, and a fully supplied kitchen! Our host was responsive and provided a thoughtful welcome to us. We were very pleased with our experience at Cornerstone Cottage and highly recommend it to others.

The kitchen and gathering rooms were great. We really liked that the two full bathrooms were both in the hall and could be used by everyone. Great view and lot. It was a long way from restaurants, so we decided to eat in at night. with rain we wanted to have a movie night, but the TV is very small for the space and made watching it difficult.

Lovely, welcoming and well appointed cottage with a view that invokes inner peace. The deer visited each morning and the Lemoine Beach was perfect for walks and kayak launches. It was an easy drive to Bar Harbor too. We had the best family vacation with our adult children. We would be back every year if we could!!

Perfect spring get-away

The cottage was just what we’d hoped for and more. Beautiful accommodations and you cannot beat the view and huge yard. We loved the fire pit for smores, walking down to look at rocks along the waters edge, and looking out at the ocean during meals from the dining room table. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and would highly recommend it!

Great getaway near Acadia

We had a wonderful time, the cottage has a beautiful view of mt desert island, the host was incredibly kind and communicative, and the property was very clean and accommodating. Plenty to do both at the cottage and at the park, I hope to make it back soon!

Quiet and Quaint Cottage

We loved our stay. Immaculate and tastefully decorated cottage half hour from Bar Harbor. Appreciated the little extras like the binoculars, games, park guide and books. Would stay again if we come back. Eat at Paddys in Bar Harbor, rent ebikes and don’t miss Schoodic Pt or Campobello!

Cornerstone had everything we needed and was everything we had hoped for! Beautiful views, just enough space for everyone to be comfortable, great outdoor space, and host is amazing. The beds were comfortable (this is a MUST) and the bathrooms were stocked and ready!

Great Getaway

The stay here was wonderful with all built in amenities and the location of the house is perfect. The house is connected to the water and has amazing views and you can just sit and soak them in. This place is pretty close by to all great attractions around. I definitely recommend this place to the folks who want to visit Bar harbor/Acadia national parks.

Beautiful home and gorgeous views

The house was amazing! Everything is perfect from the beautiful lawn and view of the ocean to the cozy bedrooms and spacious kitchen and den area. Jenny is absolutely a joy to work with! I can’t recommend the house enough!

Back Porch Sitting at its Best

What a great property. Not only was the back porch our favorite spot to sit for morning coffee and evening cocktails, but the house itself was a little slice of history that was tastefully decorated to give it a modern farmhouse feel. We would definitely stay here again!!

Wonderful stay in Maine

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage is very well appointed and very clean. The views are fantastic. My girls enjoyed watching the deer in the yard each day. Jenny is very responsive to any communication. Would highly recommend staying here.

Amazing!

Cornerstone Cottage is absolutely beautiful! The property was exactly as described in the listing and was very clean and well appointed. The owner was very easy to work with and genuinely goes the extra mile to ensure her guests enjoy their stay. It was also conveniently located to Acadia National Park while remaining serene. I would definitely stay in this property again!

Wonderful week at Cornerstone!

We felt at home instantly upon entering this charming Cottage. Very clean and spacious, well stocked and no clutter. The expansive lawn leading down to the water was well maintained and also enjoyed by a family of deer From time to time. Very peaceful! We would definitely stay again.

Loved this precious cottage. So comfy and homey. The setting was beautiful on the lake. The best place to relax and feel at peace. The cottage was so clean and had all the amenities. The amenities surpassed my expectations. Jenny is the best host. I hope to be there again one day!!

The way life should be

This is an amazing property! The owners obviously love this place and call it home. The views are awesome and it is located close enough to get where you need to be and far enough to be peaceful when you are “home”. The communication with the owner was the best we have experienced.

Family vacation just before the official season

We spent three lovely, relaxing days at the cornerstone cottage in late April. This home is bright and beautiful, gorgeous views of the bay from the living room couches. We spent the afternoons in Acadia, and although many of the shops and restaurants were closed until May, there were zero crowds in the park and we had wonderful hikes in the park under cool crisp big blue skies.
