Classic and Spacious Maine Waterfront Retreat
COMPLETELY REMODELED SUMMER 2014 - NEW KITCHEN WITH SUB ZERO AND WOLF APPLIANCES, NEW OUTDOOR DECKS, NEW ENLARGED DOORS AND WINDOWS TO CAPTURE THE INCREDIBLE VIEWS. Sealight rents by the week from Sunday to Sunday.
Sealight is located in Sullivan, Maine, directly on Frenchman Bay/Sullivan Harbor. This nineteenth-century Maine summer cottage is gracious and spacious - truly a classic Maine family getaway.
With over 5,000 square feet and two acres of lawn, this six bedroom, four and one-half bath Bar Harbor-style cottage is ideal for families and also wonderful for a couple wanting to relax and get away from it all.
Breathtaking views across the water, facing south, of Frenchman Bay, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and the mountains of Mount Desert Island. Private 165 foot dock is great for launching your family kayak expedition.
There is a public boat launching ramp adjacent to the property for your watercraft. House is conveniently located beside a small inn which would lend itself for any overflow guests.
The house has kept its ambiance of days gone by. Very large rooms with outstanding views and four distinct living areas offer privacy to those seeking solitude! A fully remodeled new (Summer 2014) kitchen features Sub Zero and Wolf appliances, new living room, new den, entrance foyer, library, laundry room, breakfast room and formal dining room are located on the first floor, along with two newly added outdoor decks and a large outdoor patio. Also on the first floor is a long sun porch that is typical of the classic Bar Harbor-style cottages. Views, views, views from every room.
The spacious, sunny, charming enclosed sun porch that runs much of the waterside of the house invites cocktail parties, luncheons, or snuggling up with a book.

Our group rented the property for a professional retreat. The host couldn’t have been easier to work with. The group really enjoyed the beautiful grounds. You can beat dockside deliver of lobster! Great location in every way possible.
We had a lovely stay in this beautiful home with interesting artifacts, books and vintage decor all lending to a quintessential experience in a New England summer home. The most enjoyable elements were the large lawn for playing games and football, the dock for launching our kayaks and the porches for lounging. The location was close to the park and hikes. A memorable stay!
Our family had a wonderful week stay at Sealight! The house was big enough to accommodate our family of 12 as the posted photos are very accurate. The drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor is about 45-50 minutes but we enjoyed the quiet location away from all the more touristy spots. Having lobsters delivered to our dock was one of the highlights of our stay and something we will always remember. The host and caretaker were both very accommodating as well. I would definitely recommend this house!
This is a gorgeous, older Maine home with all of the elegance of its era. The fantastic view is the kind that makes you smile when you look out the windows, no matter what time of day it is. There's plenty of room inside and out - our family of 6 never felt crowded. It was easy to all be together or to find a quiet space for yourself. The owner was a great communicator and responded quickly to questions.

Problematic Bathrooms/Communication, Good Property
I recently stayed at this VRBO rental, and while the property itself is undeniably beautiful and charming, my experience was marred by significant communication issues and a discrepancy between the listing and the actual amenities.
The Bad:
Out of the 6 bathrooms that were listed, only 2 had showers, and unfortunately, only 1 of those was functional as the other was clogged. We contacted the property manager regarding this issue and were initially promised handheld showers, but they never followed through, and communication ceased. Despite numerous attempts to reach out after our stay and find a reasonable solution, the property manager delivered none. This lack of responsiveness and accountability has left us frustrated and disappointed.
The Good:
On a positive note, the property itself is truly amazing. It boasts an old-world charm, is waterfront, and offers ample space and parking. Additionally, its proximity to Acadia National Park, just 40 minutes away, makes it a desirable location for nature enthusiasts.
Side note: As a part of the compensation, the VRBO customer service refunded their share of the property charges, but the host still clearly mentioned no financial compensation will be provided.
In conclusion, while the property itself is a gem, the breakdown in communication and the discrepancy in the bathroom amenities have cast a shadow over our experience. We are currently working on ways to secure partial compensation.
My group and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location and views were simply spectacular, and the home is lovely. It reminded us all of the great stately yet unpretentious summer houses of days gone by. The only issue we had was mildew in some of the rooms that needs to be tended to. We would definitely stay here again!
The house was built in 1889 so the property had a ton of character. The house was very roomy and plenty of room for our family. The views from this house are amazing and one of my favorite memories of Maine. . Even though the house had plenty of bathrooms, only 2 of them had showers and the remainder was just a bathtub- so if you are the type of person that does shower only - hope you get the bath with the shower :) Overall we were all very pleased with our stay here.

Estate setting with incredible views - absolute perfection - loved it.
I can't believe the views - really like a postcard. The whole house is beautiful and very well maintained. Very large estate home with six bedrooms, many sitting and living rooms, each with spectacular water views. The kitchen has a SubZero refrigerator and a Wolf range, if that gives you an idea of the quality of the home. This is classic, elegant Maine waterfront living like I had imagined. Quiet and private and perfect. There's no reason for us to ever search for another Maine rental again. You can't beat Sealight.
House was very nice and interesting. I was disappointed to not be able to use the fireplace. Had been looking forward to a bedtime fire. Highchair was listed but not there. From the way the property was listed we expected a canoe/kayak which were not there. Grill was not working well, we ended up cooking hot dogs and hamburgers in the kitchen. Never before seen an en suite where you needed to go through the bathroom to reach the bedroom. Despite all of the negative issues, we loved the house and the stay.
Beautiful Oceanfront Mansion with magnificent views of Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain
Beautiful home with views of Bar Harbor. Its what you think Maine should be. Huge home with nice furnishings and top shelf appliances and granite counter tops. Lobster boats pull up next door and you can buy lobsters directly from them. We had an awesome time going to Acacia National Park, Cadillac Mountain, Bar Harbor. Huge yard and firepits and an enormous dock if you bring your boat. Wish we could live here always!
This gorgeous and palatial home is divine! Perfect for a family gathering or a celebration like a wedding. It is in a perfect location and extremely tastefully decorated. Right on the water with a dock and a stunning expanse of green lawn. You will never Regret staying here and when you leave you will be planning your next stay. Heaven on earth!

Most amazing home in Maine
Words cannot express how perfect this house is -- along with the most incredible view overlooking the bay. I have been all over Maine and you could not ask for a more perfect setting. Will only rent this place on our yearly excursion to Maine. Owners keep house immaculate and ideal for family and friends.

Gorgeous Waterfront Escape
My husband and I stayed at Sealight this summer and had the most amazing time. From the beautifully decorated home to the views that cannot be beaten (I've never cooked in a kitchen while overlooking the bay), it was really the perfect Maine retreat. Whether you want to curl up on the sun porch and read a good book or travel to the close-by Acadia National Park, I could not think of a better, idyllic, quintessential Maine vacation. The spacious dining areas and amount of beds makes me want to come back with a group of my girlfriends! I would recommend Sealight to anyone looking for a beautiful, luxurious, and adventurous stay in the great state of Maine.

Artists Retreat
A group of us, about 13 artist and photographers, have rented Sealight for several years. The house is spacious, equipped with the latest appliances, lots of areas to sit and chat or simply escape for a little quiet time. Even on a cloudy day, the rooms are light and airy due to the large windows and French doors that overlook the bay. Sealight is perfect vacation getaway with surroundings that energize an artist’s creativity. I highly recommend this rental.

Amazing week with family
We rented the Sealight from June 15-23, 2014. There were 13 of us, grandparents, parents and 7 grandchildren ages 19-8. We all had an amazing time! The sunroom was the best part of the house for us, we all ended up there after a long day. The remodel that is taking place just makes the place even better! The bathrooms could use updated, but I am sure that will get put on the list after the summer vacation. We had more than enough space for the 13 of us. We loved the beach, the shells and rocks we found, the sunsets were amazing, waking up to the waterview every morning was definitely worth the drive to Bar Harbor. We would most definitely rent this house again! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Seaside Inspiration
As artists, my group enjoyed their week at Sealight. Even the rain could not dampen our mood. The house is spacious and the views from the front porch and most windows are priceless. We look forward to returning again next June.
The central heating system kept us warm on cool nights and the wifi allowed us to surf the internet and keep in touch with family. I highly recommend Sealight as a vacation getaway!

Wonderful home for a great large family reunion
We had a great time at Sealight in June of 2012. This is a wonderful home with a lot of personality and plenty of space. Fantastic views over the bay toward Bar Harbor and Mt. Desert--gorgeous everywhere you look. It is a bit far from Mt. Desert Island, but the views more than make up for that. Very functional kitchen, spacious grounds with lots of grass for family games (just make sure you have plenty of mosquito repellent), cozy fire pit. We really enjoyed the sunroom. The house is old and a little worn around the edges but that adds to the personality and family friendly feel. Make sure to visit the nearby tidal falls on your way back and forth to Ellsworth and the island.
