In a very pretty garden setting this unique property is filled with charm and interesting decor including art. The lovely plants and fresh flowers even in guest rooms and the subtle lighting add to the inviting atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious with many choices. Clearly much attention, care and thought has gone into creating and maintaining this wonderful hotel and restaurant. It was a pleasure to stay there.

Very peaceful and beautiful location, very good canal side restaurant and bar, with other restaurant options a few mins walk away. Easy 25 minute regular bus into Amsterdam central, buses take contactless payment. Potentially a better option than staying in Amsterdam centre if you don’t want to be there beyond 11pm. Free parking nearby. Rooms comfortable and fan provided without asking when hot. I actually cannot fault.

This was a wonderful quaint hotel. The location is idyllic, with a beautiful garden overlooking a canal. The restaurant food and overall dining experience is excellent. Nicolas the manager/owner could not have been more accommodating. We highly recommend this hotel.

Close to bus transportation, walkable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Wonderful breakfasts included. Dinner was delicious with good variety of choices. The room was very clean and comfortable. Many good bathroom products to use. Close to cheese museum and shops. Charming and by the canal. I would highly recommend this hotel and stay here again.

Little Gem
A lovely hotel and restaurant. Lovely location. Great service. Excellent breakfast, plenty of fresh choice. Some steep stairs to some rooms. Easy bus ride into Amsterdam and Pumerend.

De Fortuna is a beautiful, casual, old-style European inn set in a lovely and romantic setting on a canal in the center of the historic town. Our room was cozy and bright, and stepped right out onto a gorgeous terrace on the canal. The property has lush gardens and a wonderful restaurant with al fresco dining on the canal. Breakfast was ample and of high quality, with delicious croissants from a local baker and breakfast meats from the butcher down the street.

Beautiful Edam.
Lovely peaceful place. The hotel is a little gem. Very picturesque in picturesque surroundings. The hotel manger was very pleasant and helpful as were the rest of the staff. Food perfect as was everything else. Will definitely be back.

Rooms were in cottages on the grounds with some adjacent to the canals. Great location. Wonderful restaurant. Handy by bus to Amsterdam. Nice town to walk around in. Negative might be it could be noisy when other guests returned to their rooms late. Would definitely recommend.

This hotel is historic and beautiful. The food is wonderful! I loved my stay there and would highly recommend it to others. Nice people too. Very clean except for the carpet in our room. We were there at the end of the summer season, so I’m sure that has been taken care of.

Great spot, decor, patio, and breakfast! Bar is a bit pricey and the rooms are nondescript compared to the rest of the hotel.

Highly recommended
Beautiful traditional Dutch accommodation in a picture postcard setting. Stayed in a cosy room overlooking the canal with its floral embankments. Ducks and swans adding to the visual beauty. Room was comfy with good sized on suite. Good breakfast with boiled eggs ! Lunch and dinner was available in the hotel restaurant and on the terrace which was excellent and good value. Other good restaurants nearby also. A few minutes walk to the bus station which provides a service to Amsterdam and other nearby towns. We would highly recommend this hotel and Edam.

Edam is the heaven in Earth. We love this town. Hotel De Fortuna has an excellent location. It is right beside the canal and town centre. Very easy and FREE parking. Buffet breakfast is great and beside the garden and canal. Hotel staff very friendly. Lunch and dinner are also available and good choices. Comfortable hotel with excellent restaurant!
Lovely old property in the hesrt of Edam with a superb restaurant! Service was good and rooms small; but clean and comfortable. Only challenge as we are older was the steep curving stairs; however, the staff helped toon ourbags up. Parking is all offsite; but close.

Great hotel and restaurant outside of Amsterdam set in village of Edam. Owners and staff friendly and helpful, arranged washing of clothes without hassle. Restaurant meals were excellent and staff were attentive to all needs including dietary restrictions. Rooms set in cottages, had cottage with only one other room attached. Room clean, tidy and serviced daily. Easy walking around the historical village and canals. Walking distance to local shops and cheese factory.

Magical garden setting. But some of the rooms are not very private - looking right out on the restaurant. Also in thedescription on expedia, just be aware that "view" might mean a view of the restaurant.

Perfect location in Edam, lovely surroundings on canal, very nice breakfast. We were there during a heat wave, and they (of course) have no A/C, but they provided a fan for the room which helped alot. Nice areas to sit and/or eat outside.

Cozy countryside inn
Edam has to be the best kept secret, beautiful small town in the Netherlands. The hotel has the small town cozy feeling. The view form the hotel’s terrace overseeing the canals is breathtaking. The included breakfast was great and varied.

This is the third time we have stayed here mainly because of its beautiful location next to a network of small canals in the lovely town of Edam. Some of the rooms are very small and restaurant service is very relaxed (slow) but the food is superb and the location makes it somewhere we will return to.

We loved Edam and the location of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay there immensely. The value was amazing. The rooms were a bit small but the location and scenery made up for it all 100%.

Good things first: beautiful old town, nice area Not good: hotel is very poorly maintained, No air condition in rooms and at 30+C it was a torture to stay there, no ventilation in the room or tiny shower room in the room so everything there stinks and damp as well, smell of horse manure and stables but not the clean hotel smell you expect. No sound proofing. overpriced for service level provided.

Nice Hotel in a lovely Dutch village
This is a nice Hotel in the lovely Dutch village of Edam. Ideally situated for a trip into Amsterdam and surrounding villages such as Volendam. Small bijou rooms with winding staircases but spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly and speak English.

A charming cottage on the canal
How charming! We were in a lovely cottage on the canal that was full of light with sounds of birds and church bells. The 4 course dinner was wonderful and the service even better. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

A quaint hotel 20 min from Amsterdam
I booked this hotel not knowing it was just outside of Amsterdam in a village called Edam. It was the best thing!! Edam is only a 20 minute bus ride from Amsterdam’s Central Station. We got to see some of the country side and stay at a quaint little Inn for New Years Eve. We had a beautiful romantic dinner in their beautifully decorated restaurant. The only thing that surprised us was the quantity of fireworks that this community produced on New Years!! Amazing. We will surely go back!

Stay outside the box!
the owners are very friendly and make this little gem a great place to stay. While it is only a short 30 minute bus ride away from Amsterdam, you can save 60% the costs and the area is an experience that most places cannot offer. Definitely the way to spend some time in Holland! And don't forget to stock up on the local Edam Cheese.
