It is the most tranquil place mixed with history, recreation, and unerasable memories. Our 2600+ square foot custom home on 20 acres is nestled in the mountains overlooking beautiful Columbine Lake. The brilliance of Engineer and Spud Mountain can be seen to the North, and to the East the Animas River which flows through the La Plata Mountains. The home was created by the hands of a master with each window intricately creating a new view of the lake. Giant doors lead you onto a deck where you'll find a hot tub that you can soak in after your daily activities. At night the sky is so black, you'll feel like you're sitting under an umbrella of stars. The night is so peaceful you can hear the fish in the water. You'll be located at an elevation of 9000 feet somewhere in the vicinity of the gods. The interior is very comfortable with all luxurious amenities that will connect you back to the real world. Now that you've found the perfect place to visit, look no further for a place to stay. You can walk out and fish for rainbow, brook and brown trout in the backyard. We have a boat you can take out to fish the lake. Boat agreement provided. It is a private lake so you won't see many others. Fishing gear available, you must use catch and release hooks. Summer is the busy season in Durango, you can ride the train, hike, bike, bobsled at the ski area across the street, horseback riding, gold panning or rest and read a book. We are 26 miles north of Durango. If you have any questions please feel free to call. We visit Purg every year for several weeks with our teenage boys. Well stocked house in a perfect location to head to the mountain, hiking, the Nugget, The Lift, sledding, etc… Michael the property manager was so helpful and responsive throughout our trip. ##### Erin H. We had such a blast playing in the snow and enjoying the views. The house is stocked with everything including extra blankets, pillows, towels, soap in the bathrooms, and fans. The kitchen has more than enough pans, utensils, and dishes. We’ve been to lots of vacation houses and this one continues to sit at the top of our list. Not to mention the host and caretaker are very easy to communicate with. We hope to be back for a third time! ##### Ryan M. The property manager was helpful and available with any questions we had. He was willing to come over to help if needed. The house was clean, plenty big and the perfect location to get some time on the mountain without a long drive up & back. It was super convenient being 5 minutes from the parking lot & made it easy when we had people wanting to go back early. The view was awesome, can’t wait to come back during the summer sometime and see the view without all the snow! ##### Keith E. Mike was super responsive and easy to deal with. The property is well maintained and clean. We really enjoyed using the paddle boats to fish and explore the beautiful lake. Spa on deck with amazing lake views was really nice to relax in after a day of hiking or fishing. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. We definitely will be back in the future. The view was incredible, and the leaves were stunning. We spent hours fishing the lake, pulling out a number of big rainbows, and Brookies. Enjoyed cooking in the full-size kitchen, and enjoying time in the hot tub, looking at the stars. The owner was incredibly, responsive, and attentive to our our every need. We were in town visiting our daughter who lives in a small house and needed some extra room for the family and friends. The house was well stocked with everything we need to cook our Turkey dinner. The views and location of the property was amazing. We skied at Purg and did Apres at The Nugget which is so close to the house. The beds were very comfy and the wood burning furnace was very efficient. The hot tub was also relaxing after skiing and hikes in the area. The best part was the amazing views of the lake during morning coffee. We are for sure staying here next time we are in need. We highly recommend you stay here.
