About this property
Downtown Durango-New Custom Timber Frame-the Carriage House
The Carriage House is a beautiful custom home located in a bustling part of historic downtown Durango. The house was completed in 2011 and was built to the highest standard of quality, with warm timber frame accents, radiant-heat floors, and stained concrete counters and sinks. This house is a legal and permitted vacation rental so there will be no troubles with your stay (project #19-030, permit #19-030). We own another house downtown: the Durango Hideout that sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms (vrbo# 1150651). The Carriage house has 3 bedrooms, which are all located upstairs. The master has its own spacious bathroom and a king bed. A second bedroom has a queen bed. Then there is a third bedroom that has a queen along with a twin in a loft of this room. The entire second floor has gorgeous vaulted timber ceilings. Downstairs, there is a full bathroom, a great room, and the kitchen, which has bar seating, stainless steel appliances, and concrete counter tops. Outside, there is a front porch and a back patio, which is equipped with a grill and seating. Inside, the on-demand hot water system ensure you will always have plenty of hot water. The house is now equipped AC. We put individual units in the bedrooms and one in the living space so it will be plenty cool.
This is the perfect spot to enjoy the Durango lifestyle, as you are in a busy neighborhood within minutes of restaurants, shops, the bike path, the Animas River, and city parks. Sit on the front porch and watch the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Train rumble right by the house, or take a stroll on the river path that’s just a minute away.

Great home and location. Host had the place dialed in to accommodate our families needs while we stayed. The access to the nearby walking path made for an enjoyable morning or evening walk.
We loved the location - walkable to downtown, around the corner from the river, and mountain views from the front porch. Inside was nicely decorated and comfortable.
This is an awesome house. The location near the river is great for walking/biking. Coffee, burgers, and a pub are a stone’s throw away. All of downtown is a short walk; and the northend is walkable as well. The home is very well appointed. It is beautiful inside and out. At first glance with the driveway next to the home and the street close, it feels like it would be noisy but it is not at all (except the train but we enjoyed that actually). This is our 2nd time staying here and will do so again if it is available when we need it.
Great location! Such a beautiful area to walk around — the Animas River Trail is amazing to have so close, especially with the botanical garden right along it. We saw so much wildlife, explored downtown, and enjoyed plenty of restaurants. Got our steps in and loved every minute of it. Lots of wildlife and deer you name we seen it!
Very clean, well appointed, great communication, easy check in and check out. Easy walk to downtown Main Street. Assigned parking, it had it all. Had a great time!
Great location at the end of downtown. Right next to a brewery and easy to get in and out of town. Place was clean, well stocked and host communicated very well. Would stay again.
Stayed here for the polar express. Great location and plenty of room for kids to play. Also has a park nearby and walking distance to childrens museum. Will definitely be staying here again.
We had a great stay here! It is walking distance from downtown, the narrow gauge railroad, and the river path, which was lovely. The host communicated well. The setup was a little bit difficult with all the bedrooms on the second floor and only the master bath. All other visitors had to use the first floor bathroom. The kitchen also could have been more well-stocked. Overall, we enjoyed our time in Durango.
An exceptionally clean and well-kept property. The kitchen had everything we needed and the living area was a great place to relax after adventures around town. We enjoyed being very close to the Animas riverwalk and were able to walk across the pedestrian bridge at Rotary Park to easily access the Durango Trout Hatchery and Durango Public Library & Botanic Gardens. This would be an ideal property for anyone keen on using bikes to access the Animas River Trail. The loft bed was a favorite for our kids and they also enjoyed being able to step out on the front porch to see the steam train leaving for and returning from Silverton.
