The hotel itself was really very nice - it had spacious rooms with great furniture and overall great support. However, we did not receive our 'Gold Member Benefits', the breakfast was dissapointing and I did not feel safe from a COVID-19 perspective.
In the first instance the Gold Member Benefits are just a nice to have. It is dissapointing not to receive and when I asked, I was told that we can only receive them if they are available.
The breakfast itself would have been pretty average for a 3* motorway hotel. Instant coffee, a giant bowl of luke-warm mushy scrambled eggs and rubbery bacon. It seemed way over capacity so it was very difficult to find a table that was clean. One morning there were no cups for the coffee, no milk and no glasses for juice. We eventually devided not to bother going on the last of our 4 night stay.
The subbeds looked nice ... but there were unfortunately too few available and so we never managed to find any that were available (or weren't already reserved with towels that never appeared to get cleared away).
Finally, I wouldn't recomend this hotel as 'Covid secure'. The tables at breakfast and in the bars were not cleaned. Most of the guests wandered around public areas without face masks and when I asked reception about this at reception, they said that they didn't insist on wearing face masks (or social distancing given the swarms of people at breakfast).
Ultimately this was a fantastic hotel that was dissapointing!
