We enjoyed our stay at The Alex. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the opportunity to check out the Garden restaurant. Next time!

There was a woman working behind the counter on April 20th who was a trainee and she was extremely good at her job. She was very knowledgeable about the area and went exceeded our expectations.

Every staff member at The Alex was so accommodating, kind, and welcoming. They were the highlight of the whole experience. In addition, the facilities themselves were lovely, and they had great dining options inside the hotel. We ate breakfast there twice, got coffee from The Steam, and ordered room service, all of which were excellent. It was also an easy trek to Trinity College, Grafton Street, and Temple Bar, which are at most, a 20 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, The Alex is a great find with excellent customer service!

I like that The Alex was a little quieter than my last hotel in Dublin. Was a little farther walk to shopping but still a great location. Not a bad view either. Room was spacious, and very clean. The only aspect I was disappointed in was the breakfast in the restaurant. The eggs seemed a bit under cooked, and the juices all tasted watered down. More variety would have have been good. The dinner in the restaurant, though, was very good! I would definitely stay at the Alex again.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Alex. We had a room on the front which was quiet and didn’t hear much from outside. The room was huge especially the bed! Had all the facilities we needed like hairdryer, mini fridge, Nespresso coffee machine and free waters. Great to leave luggage on check in/check out. Room was clean and just loved the luxury decor of the hotel. Used the great gym facilities at the sister hotel The Mont round the corner. In a great location to the centre of Dublin. We walked and I think it would be like 15/20 mins dependent on where you wanted to go and the area around the hotel felt safe. The Dublin express from the airport was conveniently around the corner for the drop off/pick up. Would really recommend to stay here! Only downside would be the very late check in at 4pm

Outstanding hotel and great experience, staff was attentive to our needs from the moment we checked in. The room was lovely, one comment would be the room was a little dark so maybe some more lighting. The location was fabulous, off the main tourist beat but 5 mins walk away and Trinity College right behind.

We upgraded to the Executive King and we’re super happy we did so. The bed was amazing. We slept like babies. The amenities, the bathrobe and the Nespresso machine were, wonderful. we also had access to the executive lounge for light snacks, bottled water, and sodas, beer and wine, which was lovely after coming back to the hotel from a day of walking around Dublin. The staff members were all super nice. We really enjoyed our stay.

Hotel was very good and remarkably quiet for city centre (we stayed on 5th Floor). We had an issue with the booking (from Expedia side rather than the hotel) and the receptionist was very helpful and pragmatic in resolving it so that we had a great experience with them.

Awful experience - mucky and stressful stay
Firstly, there are some good things about this hotel. Very comfortable beds, large spacious rooms and very quiet given its about 10min walk from the centre. However, this hotel was a horrible experience ftom thr start. I realised on my first evening the bedfing was stained but told by reception housekeeping only worked till 4pm so couldnt be changed. The next morning I went to reception and again asked for the bedding to be changed. Came back later to find the bed had been remade but still mucky sheets. Breakfast was fine but for money I would go else where. Staff clearly struggled to understand guest requests as I was bought hot water when I requested a latte and the next table said they were calling it alex bingo as they never got what they asked for. When checking out I was charged for double the breakfasts and also another room at first. I also raised the bedding issue and whilst very apologetic the receptionist just blamed the external laundry company not seeming to get that my issue was more with hotel staff for not rectifying the issue. I wasnt offered any compensation for having to sleep in a dirty bed just the receptionists direct email for making sure I have a clean bed if I booked again. I will definately not be booking again.

Inaccurate listing on hotels.com
The people were wonderful, especially Murillo at the front desk. My overall complaint is first with hotels.com. The description on the hotels.com site wasn't accurate infact it was misleading. The actual Alex hotel site was accurate but hotels.com was misleading. I recognize that this site has been bought out by expedia but I did not expect the quality to go down as much as it has. Presenting photos that look like a suite or hotel gym that isn't on property but that is down the street in winter isn't what we paid for. We travel often, but not certain we will continue to use this site. The hotel was not what we thought it was, it was fine, but we thought we were paying for something else. I would have never spent so much money for access to a hotel lounge with mediocre snacks and drinks. The hotels actual site was clear, hotels.com is the problem.

The front of desk were generally very bad. It took nearly 1 hour to check in and then they did not get anything right. The senior management were very good and they made every effort to make good the wrongs which I was grateful for. Overall a good hotel, but there are certainly staff problems that leaves an unpleasant taste.

Beautiful hotel, conveniently located with excellent service. Gym facility (hard to fin in Irish hotels) was incredible. We had a junior sweet for three of us. The decor and amenities were luxurious.

I will say the rooms and beds are excellent, however the amenities are just so so. The parking situation is terrible. No valet parking, they give you a map, that looks like a treasure hunt map, to a parking garage with no address. We finally found it. Upon departure are car was stuck in there, gate would not open. The restaurant was solid but the service was terrible. We sat down before 9 and the server sat us, let us know we would not be able to order dessert at the end of our meal, took our order and we never saw him again. Again, rooms are awesome but in all for what we paid all around service could have been far better.
