Lovely historic building and pretty lobby. Good location and easy parking however that's really the end of the plus sides as the rooms were slightly historic too and could definitely do with a spruce up. Comfy beds but otherwise nothing special, carpets stained and furniture generally scruffy and walls could do with a clean. Linen, bathroom etc were clean but basically the place needs decorating and definitely needs new carpets. No air-conditioning in standard rooms makes for a stifling hot night with windows that are locked 'for safety'. Also a bit noisey with something clattering every so often through the night- sounded like possibly hotel staff doing things. Staff were polite on arrival but breakfast staff weren't particularly welcoming but as they all looked exhausted was probably down to being short staffed. The breakfast was a huge buffet affair. It would have been great but simple things let it down- thin watery porridge, watered down orange juice ( possibly even squash we weren't sure) and the coffee was pretty bland coloured water. The breads, fresh fruit etc were all excellent and there was a good continental choice on offer. The cooked breakfast was nothing special. We had a breakfast included deal but if you aren't on a deal you'd be better going elsewhere for breakfast and experience a real Irish Breakfast. Apart from the building which makes the place feel a bit more special on a par with a travel lodge and what you'd expect from a solid 3* hotel.
