We booked 1 room but were given 2 rooms on arrival. We asked if it is a mistake or an upgrade without cost. They said there will be extra cost so we demand to give us the room we book and they switch us back to the original room we booked. The property is clean and in walkable distance (about 1000 ft) to the Phong Nha boat tour.

Good Location, clean new hotel.
We stayed at Thuong Hai a couple of times. The hotel was clean and modern. Wifi is good. There are lots of restaurants around and a lovely bakery. The boats to Phong Nha cave are a short walk away. Breakfast was cooked to order and when we had a 6:50am pickup they started the breakfast service half an hour early. The staff were keen to offer us tours but not pushy when we declined. The only negative was finding our room key left unattended on top of the counter at reception.

Hospitable Great Location.
Went to Phong Nha Ke Bang to see caves. Had a wonderful time. Hotel was very hospitable. More than I expected for $20/ night.

Great location and value
I highly recommend this place for caving excursions nearby. I had a balcony room which was a great value for the money. Much better than a hostel for about the same price.

Gateway to the park
Staff was very friendly and accommodating during my two night stay. Breakfast/coffee was included & was quite good. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Central location meant I could walk to anything else I needed to do . Very good value!

I cannot say anything negative about this place.
Everything was honestly perfect, despite only being a 2 star hotel. We arrived very early and got early checkin without any issues - We even got free breakfast while we were waiting even though we weren't obliged to get that! The staff was amazing, very accommodating and helped us book anything we needed, store our luggage, offered us a hot shower when we got back from a tour on the last day, even though we had already checked out. Food was delicious - make sure to try the banana pancakes, banana smoothie and passion juice. The best experience we had in all of Vietnam.

Clean hotel. Friendly staff. great location. Got an making nights sleep here for the first time in over a month being on the road. This is the place to stay if, like me, you don't want to be surrounded by hippies getting leathered. Hired a moped here too, cheap and good little runner. Carried me no the Mrs through the national park no problem.

Nice hotel. We had a little deck off our room which was great. Not busy at all. Restaurant area was just under the hotel. Had the feeling it was in someone's home. But the banana pancakes were the best I've had. English is ok. Can be hard to speak to staff. No coffee facilities in room. Great value for money though

Front staff very eager to help and workable English. Comfortable room and good AC. Free water refills. Free breakfast, western and local options on menu. VERY good value for ~$20. And close location to easy tiger or other hostels if you want socializing opportunities. Also far enough away from the karaoke bar that you can sleep!

Nice hotel but poor overall experience
Hotel was nice. As expected for a $20 budget hotel. Break fast was very basic compared to our stay in Hue, but it was okay for free. We have no complaints about the hotel itself, it is quite nice and clean. The reason for the bad review is we were constantly bombarded by the "hard sell" for tours, motorbike rental, laundry, even water. When we finally conceded to renting a motorbike from the hotel, they gave us a bike with NO gas. This is normal in Vietnam, but not to the extent that it stops 200 metres down the street, causing a huge delay to our day.

I have left many reviews of many places. I always find positives, I will give them at the end. First off NEVER stay here. I booked because if you payed a little more it said you got early check in with a breakfast included. We had to fight with them to get the early check in that we paid for never got the breakfast that was listed with the early check in. The sleazy guy at the desk called the sleazy owner who seems to be a gangster. They keep saying no and i keep saying this is what you listed on hotels.com and why we booked. We eventually got our check in but not breakfast. They keep saying this is way and i keep saying nice but not what you listed. Finally gave up and just went to do the activities we planned. We returned they proceed everytime we saw them to say in a sleazy way if your happy i am happy. I was not happy. The room was nice with a view the breakfast lady the next morning was nice. The breakfast ok but not that special that they couldnt have given us the one the day before we payed extra for and never got. The staff besides the breakfast lady were all sleazy. I hate to give a full negative review. But I will brake my rule for this group. DON'T GO HERE. They are the kind of people that give an area bad reputation. There plenty of great place to stay nearby. I would've complained to hotel.com for a refund moved hotels if i had time to.

The hotel is just a few months old, and everything is still in great condition. It's well placed in the center of town just across the street from the Easy Tiger Hostel, which is the easiest place to get information and which also serves as the main hangout for tourists. The staff are helpful and welcoming, and the free breakfast is good, especially considering that the hotel is under $20 a night. The towels are stained and could use some bleach though. Also, if you leave the do not disturb sign on your door, the staff will disregard that and come clean your room anyway, which is not ideal. Overall, though, this was a great stay and great value.

Pleasant Stay while in Phong Nha
We had a great 4 night stay at Thuong Hai Hotel. The rooms were very clean and tidy and room service came around to clean often which was nice. The staff were able to accomodate us nicely and gave us a room with a balcony with a great view facing the town. Breakfast were really yummy, my favourite was the banana pancakes. There was flooding in the town and all power was down for a few hours while we were there, however the staff were quick to provide an electrical cord from there generator so we had light in our room. What stood out the most thought was when my wife came down ill, the staff were keen to help and offered us food and soup to make here feel better at no extra charge. They really went above and beyond. And the concierge's young son, Coke, was such a cute welcoming face after a long day of exploring caves. We had a great stay here and would recommend it as great value, comfortable, clean and friendly.

Bright spacious room in ideal location
We stayed three nights in a bright, spacious and comfortable room. We had a balcony with views over the village at the back. Very quiet. Linh, who works on reception went out of his way to make us very welcome and also gave us a 30% off voucher for entrance to the Phong Nna cave. We had breakfast on their 5th floor terrace which has fantastic views. It is just a shame that they didn't serve breakfast every morning there. They didn't have a kettle in the room although Linh was happy to give us a thermos flask of boiling water so we could make a cup of tea in the room every evening. We booked a tour through the hotel to the Paradise Cave and Dark (Mud) cave which was very enjoyable and good fun. The hotel also arranged a drop-off to the airport at Dong Hoi. Would recommend a stay here.

New hotel at the doorstep of Phong Nha Ke-Bang
Very pleasant, brand new hotel (as of August 2016) in Phong Nha Ke-Bang National Park. This hotel is an excellent starting base for exploring the national park's many wonders. Staff is very polite, nice and knowledgeable of the area. Ask for advice on the hidden treasures and the less travelled paths of the park. They can also arrange for motorbike rental. Room is spacious clean and the ones on the front have a nice view of the main street and the opposing limestone cliffs. There are many restaurants closeby at walking distance. The hotel even has a cafe on the rooftop if you want to chill and enjoy the view after a long, tiring day in the park or ziplining. This hotel has reasonable room rates, I can recommend this hotel for anyone.

Great hotel
We arrived Phong Nha 4 am in the morning and was a bit nervous if the reception was open. It was and we got to check in early for the nice price of 100000 VND. Ended up staying here for 3 nights. The service was amazing!

Relatively cheap hotel in the center of Phong Nha. We had an open shower leaving the whole bathroom wet after each shower. We had a nice view of Phone Nha at our balcony. The breakfast only includes 1 dish and 1 beverage, which is okay if you consider the price per night. The owner of the hotel is really helpful and is the highlight of this hotel. He wants to help and does not wanna rip you off. We booked our trip to Paradise Cave 7km through him and got a very good price. The motorbike rental was also very cheap (70k Dong for a day).

Sehr sauberes und schönes Hotel. Die Besitzer sind SEHR freundlich und zuvorkommend. Kann ich jedem empfehlen, der in dieser Gegend ein Hotel sucht. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Ein zusätzliches Plus ist die kleine aber charmante Bar auf dem Dach.

El hotel está bien para su precio y categoría, buena cama, limpio, desayuno correcto. Buena relación calidad precio. La persona que nos atendió mostro buena disposición en un principio, hasta fue a buscarnos al autobús. La cosa cambió cuando le dijimos que no compraríamos ningún tour, que queríamos recorrer nosotros solos el parque. Demasiada presión para vender lo que ses: tours, billetes autobús, ... Eran las 10 de la noche llevábamos horas de viaje y no se debe presionar, solo queriamos cenar. De eso ni se preocupó. Me pareció gente muy poco profesional.

Hôtel très propre et très bien situé!
Hotel très propre, et très bien situé, à côté du parc national de Phong Nha. Chambres très biens. Petit déjeuner très bon. Seul bémol : lits un peu petits...mais rapport qualité/prix imbattable sur cette ville!!!

Bonne infrastructure et grande chambre. Le checkin peut déjà se faire à partir de 8h00 et le petit déjeuner est offert à l'arrivée (forcément matinale). Très pratique et sympa. Cependant l'accueil est détestable. Le réceptionniste est branché sur son smartphone et joue. Il s'intéresse plus à son jeux qu'aux clients. J'éviterais l'hôtel pour cette raison

The room was more than what we expected. It was spacious, neat and tidy. The toilet is also quite big, though it smells a little so we always have the toilet cover down. The staff would never miss a chance to sell you national park tour or pick up services(seems to be a norm in that area), but was very nice and are able to communicate in English. They were also very helpful by calling the tourism centre, which we booked our tour to national park since our tour guide was late. Another thing that annoyed and amused us at the same time was that there were lots of ants. You would be amazed by how fast they arrived to pick up the little pieces. There was a road of ants to the rubbish bin next day morning because the paper box we threw kept it opened. But that wasn't hotel's fault, not in this buffer area of the national park.
