"This place has potential, but there are several things that need to be done for the property to bring it up to the standard of a vacation rental. First and foremost, it needs a deep cleaning. We spent our first full day of vacation cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms. The beds are awful. Awful. The appliances are in need of replacement. "This property is very nice, lots of special accommodations that i have never seen before. The old school has some memorabilia from the school placed throughout. The Expedia listing said no charge for pets but the online registration and the desk person said it was $50. I picked it based on the free pet, and after speaking with the owners they did not charge me. (They were very friendly) We enjoyed the rooftop bar and would recommend the hotel to anyone. "

"Terrific stay at The Gin Hotel! Located in Lexington, VA, the hotel is close to both Washington & Lee and the Virginia Military Institute. The property is very charming with a lot of character. Staff was very welcoming, engaging and helpful. The room was clean and well tended. They offer a free continental breakfast, which is very basic, but was fine for our needs as we are not big breakfast eaters. The property is centrally located in the town and well situated for a walk about this historic town. I was particularly appreciative of the free parking, which was located directly behind the hotel and very convenient. All in all a brief, but great stay at The Gin! "

"This was a last minute stay due just one evening to break up our drive from NC beach. Decided to take the waters at Jefferson Baths, and this inn right across the street. Unfortunately, the much-lauded restaurant is closed Mon& Tues. But had an amazing buffet breakfast the next day with hot and cold dishes from scratch! Only ding is that our room smelled a bit musty when entering. Not horrible but could probably use some neutral deodorizer. The bed was the best we've every slept in!! And we've traveled extensively. Comfortable mattress, crisp & full pillows. "
