We had a great time in Bayou Hills. It’s very spacious inside and out, beautiful, clean and has the best stocked kitchen ever. The owners were very nice and responsive to our needs as well. If there was one wish open, it would have been a gas grill. Everything else was wonderful. Highly recommand
We stayed here for our niece’s wedding weekend where lodgings were all booked in the area. The host did not inform us about the lack of AC until our day of arrival, when it was too late to cancel without penalty or make alternative arrangements. During the day, indoor temperatures were well above 85°F. Because all bedrooms are on the top floors where heat rises, the warmth was trapped upstairs. Past midnight, indoor temperatures remained at 85°F and above, making it exceptionally difficult to sleep. When we brought this up, the host noted AC was not a listed amenity but mentioned future installation plans. The host asked how we wanted to handle it, so we requested a portable AC unit for under $300 for the master bedroom to sleep safely, but the host declined. Instead, the host suggested keeping windows and sliding doors open at night and running fans throughout the day. Unfortunately, circulating the hot air did not provide relief, and we ultimately had to sit and sleep on the balcony at 3:00 AM to get relief before the sun came up. While the host engaged in the conversation, the lack of effective cooling made the home unbearable any time of day. We were surprised a home could be rented without any functional cooling options during 95°F summer weather, and we experienced heat exhaustion symptoms for three days following checkout. Future guests should be fully prepared.
We were really just looking for a place to accommodate our family while attending a wedding. But the Bayou Hills property made gave us more of a vacation-like experience than we were expecting. We appreciated how exceptionally clean the property was and so spacious inside, especially the primary suite, kitchen, and family room. We really enjoyed leisurely breakfasts out on the deck, watching the birds and bunnies and enjoying the expansive views. Checking in was super easy, even though we arrived late. We will definitely stay here again if we return to the area!
