A stones throw from the buzzing artisan high street with its delis, cafes, boutique shops and lively bars. The promenade and beach are just a stroll away. The property has been lovingly restored to offer a mixture of old and new, with a fabulous courtyard garden with its own bar. A king size bedroom and cosy log burner in the sitting room makes Cow and Cockle Cottage the perfect holiday home all year round. Perfect for couples. Entrance Ground Floor Entrance is via the front door and into the sitting room. Sitting room Bright and spacious sitting room with sofa, armchair, Smart TV and wood burner. Kitchen A small but fully equipped kitchen with two bar stools and everything you need for home cooking. Electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer. Courtyard garden Delightful courtyard garden with a bar and seating area. Shed with washing machine and tumble dryer. First Floor Bedroom - Sleeps 2 in king size bed with two side tables, lamps and wardrobe space. Shower room With shower, WC and hand basin, and wall mounted hair dryer. Things You Need to Know Please note that there is not a travel cot or high chair at the house There is an optional blow up bed for a third guest. Please speak to Keepers Cottages for more details. WiFi available. Free on street parking is available a short walk from the cottage. Two hour paid parking bays outside the cottage for unloading. No pets. There are steep stairs at this property. The cottage is a 5 minute walk from the train station. House Rules We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages to our beautiful holiday home. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit. Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time. Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house. For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property. We found everything just as we had hoped. The cottage is well equipped for cooking and relaxing. The location is very convenient for the historic centre of Deal. Deal itself is pretty, and the market on Saturday is well worth visiting. We walked along the coastal path to Dover (a bit far, to be honest, but the countryside was pretty and we just kept walking). The cottage is small, but well designed and furnished, creating a very comfortable place for a short break. Close to the beach, railway station, car park and all the shops, excellent bars and fabulous restaurants in and around the busy High Street but just far enough away to be very calm and peaceful at night. Excellent communication & personal service from Keepers Cottages, a long established local holiday rental company with expert local knowledge and great people you can actually talk to which seems to be increasingly rare these days. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook, and everything is clean and modern. It's really central for walking around Deal, with lots of good places to eat and drink very nearby. It was very cosy once we had the log burner going. The only things that weren't so comfortable were the bed, which was a little soft with a slight dip in the mattress, and the TV which is far too high on the wall which means having to lean right back with your head bent back. Deal is a dear little, well meaning, emerging gem on the East Kent coast and this cottage has all you need for fish and chips, long walks and quality pints by the sea. Furnishings, finish and fixtures are all great at cow and cockle cottage. Everything we needed was to hand, well selected and as expected. Loved the little welcome presents too. Four small issues for us. These are all very small, but might be helpful for future bookings. 1) I may have missed it in all the info, but it would have been great to know that a cat lives or lived for a while in the cottage. My wife's allergies went haywire, despite the clear and derailed cleaning. If wed known she would.have packed all her meds 2) I think it could be useful and fair to make bookings aware of the closed up nature of the town on mondays-wednesdays. We know Deal quite well, but we're still surprised in a half term week just how little was open. 3) Stairs are an effort. Im not old, but my knees are weak. Again, I may have missed it, and effort has been made to mitigate, but again, I think it would be fair and useful to know just how steep, twisty and tricky they are to get up. I was crawling up and precarious coming down. 4)the shower tray filled up very quickly. We would gladly have stayed more days if we could. It was an amazing experience.
