This home features an expansive deck with fantastic views of Creede and the surrounding mountains. This home provides a feeling of privacy and seclusion in an unmatched mountain setting. It is perfect for families and groups of friends looking for the ideal San Juan Mountain getaway. Our 3,000 square foot, 3 bedroom and a loft, 3.5 bath, classic Colorado cabin is situated above Bachelor Loop overlooking Creede and the Rio Grande River Valley. The property is furnished with rustic, quality furnishing, and mountain decor. It features a wood-burning fireplace, flatscreen TV, and stainless steel appliances in the main living space. A second living space provides additional sleeping space and serves as an excellent retreat for kids. Bed Configuration: Master Bedroom - King Bed with TV and Ensuite Bath (Main Floor) 2nd Bedroom - Queen Bed (3rd Floor) 3rd Bedroom - Queen Bed (1st Floor) Loft - King Bed (3rd Floor - Loft) NOTE: 4WD/AWD is required in winter (Thanksgiving through late March) and recommend throughout the year. Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s. Book 7+ nights, and a 10% discount is automatically applied (does not apply during the 4th of July or the Christmas/New Years holiday). Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, you will need to pay in full at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date forfeit the entire reservation amount. In contrast, cancellations made more than thirty (30) days before your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days before the arrival date. It is a joy to rise each morning to a spectacular view of the valley. The houose has all the equipment you might need, but the supplies are limited as is the bedding if yyou have a full house. Pictures don't quite do this property justice. It sits higher on the Bachelor Loop road than any house in the area and the views are amazing! Great place to take the family for the weekend or just to gather your friends. We did have a problem with the water heater but when I brought it up with the property manager it was fixed within a couple of hours. This year we finally got a chance to book it and we were very pleased. You'll have an unmatched view from the giant deck, sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. The house has three, nice sized bedrooms, along with an additional loft bed that shares a bathroom with the upstairs bedroom. Plenty of seating in the living room and large dining area. Well stocked kitchen and everything was super clean. Trisha is great to work with and communicated with us very well. We definitely would recommend this property to Creede visitors. ##### Christopher W. This house has everything and is well situated right outside of town, tucked away on the mountainside with incredible views in every direction. We had an on-going game of counting the deer every day. And enjoyed watching them from the porch and the windows.We appreciated the toiletry and kitchen starter packs with several days' supply of shampoo, bodywash, soap, detergent, dishwashing soap, etc. As well as the comfortable beds and living furniture, the large dining table and bar stools at the kitchen counter. Having bedrooms on 3 floors was wonderful - allowed night owls to stay up and early birds to get up early without disturbing each other. Enjoyed working the puzzles, appreciated having the games to play. The house was very clean and with an extremely well-stocked kitchen. Better pots and pans than I have at home!! Check in and check out was a breeze and communication with the host was always quick. We absolutely enjoyed every moment of our week in this beautiful space. What a treat to walk out every morning to watch the sun rising up over the mountains from the deck. Most mornings we even got to see deer grazing on the property. Evenings were just as amazing watching the sunset and more deer return. Very spacious. Nice open/well stocked kitchen. Nice master shower. It was nice to open the windows for fresh air during the day when it was warmer (not something we get to do in Texas!) Quick and friendly communication with the property manager. We would have preferred to have a space to unpack our groceries besides the kitchen counter since the pantry was locked. Additionally, I don’t unpack our clothing so a space in the master bedroom/closet for our luggage would have been ideal. Wish the deck had better furniture to enjoy the views. Even with that, we were sad to leave and would return! The views cannot be beat! ##### Jessica B. That's where it ends! EPIC FAIL! Couldn't even hang clothes in the master closet. It had an owners lock on it. Had to hang clothes in the utility room. No access to garage. No comfortable furniture on the deck. Just a metal bar table and chairs. No grill for cooking out. And you'd better be prepared to cook all meals! Location is only good if you want to spend your time in the car. And you won't lay eyes on another human being except those that came with you. If that is what you are looking for this is your place. Home is located up a winding Forest Service road not convenient to town. No room to wander outside except the deck. ##### Tammy S. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at Above the Clouds in Creede, Colorado offered a truly memorable mountain getaway. The cabin lives up to its name with breathtaking, expansive views that stretch for miles across the San Juan Mountains. We especially loved watching the wildlife—hummingbirds zipped around the deck daily, and deer often wandered through the yard, creating a peaceful and picturesque setting.The cabin itself is beautiful and thoughtfully furnished. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything needed to prepare meals at home, and the living room furniture is very comfortable—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Its proximity to Creede made it easy to pop into town for shopping, dining, and sightseeing without a long drive.However, there were a few drawbacks that impacted our experience. The beds were extremely firm and uncomfortable for several members of our group. The deck, while offering gorgeous views, is in need of repair or replacement, and the grill was in such poor condition we couldn’t use it. The guest Wi-Fi had heavily restricted speeds—too slow even to stream—which was frustrating at times.Accessibility was also a challenge for the five individuals over age 80 in our group. The current layout makes it difficult for those with limited mobility to enter or exit easily. A walkway from the upper driveway to the deck would make a significant difference and improve accessibility greatly.Overall, Above the Clouds offers a stunning location and a lovely home base for a mountain retreat.
