"We have just returned from a truly wonderful week staying at the Auberge. From the moment we arrived, to our very early departure, all staff members went out of their way to assist us; whether making arrangements to collect us from the bus station, to booking tickets on our behalf, or offering recommendations on places to visit. This hotel feels like a genuine family-run affair with a sensitivity to guests needs without being intrusive. The hotel itself is well located on the outskirts of the busier resort of Courmayeur. It has a quaint charm about it, with cosy places to snuggle by the fire and a well-designed pool and spa. The rooms are presented to a high standard with plenty of space to hang clothes and to sit and soak up the views. Breakfast included a variety of hot and cold options, and staff were willing to accommodate our dietary needs, with nothing being too much trouble (vegetarian). The on-call shuttle bus to Courmayeur and the various ski lifts was a real bonus and we took much enjoyment in the stories/conversations we had with the staff throughout our trips. The ease of distance to Mont Blanc cable car was a particular highlight. My only hesitation in recommending this property is that it will be fully-booked when we try and return!!!! Wonderful, tranquil and restorative hotel and experience. Thank you for making our visit so special and for answering our many questions. We will visit again with family and friends. "This was the single worst hotel experience I've had in years of travel. The hotel is a very old building with stone and hardwood, and there is zero sound insulation. You can hear your neighbors talking like they're in your room. There was no staff at the hotel in the late evening, so our first night was exceptionally loud with people going up and down the hall shouting. But it quieted down after several hours. The second night was worse as on top of the sound of people running around and shouting, someone tried to get in our room and was shouting at our door. I went to reception and no one was there and called down and no one answered. Later when I complained, the answer was basically "oh I'm sorry". The third night was even worse as someone was yelling and trying to get into our room both at 11pm and 3am. No staff was available to help, and we contemplated calling the police but the person who tried to get into our room sounded drunk and confused but not aggressive. The next morning, it was hard to find a staff person that spoke English, but when I did the response was very rudely that if I didn't like their hotel I could leave, and they would not give me a refund of the nights I didn't stay there (I stayed 3/6 nights). We chose to leave, because we were exhausted from 3 nights of poor sleep and frankly didn't feel safe. Expedia also tried numerous times on our behalf to get a refund of the nights we didn't use, but the hotel refused them too. "
