Hampton by Hilton London Stansted Airport

10/10 Excellent

"Had a great overnight stay the night before our flight. The queue to check in was long but staff were efficient and we checked in quickly. We had an evening meal in the bar area where we were served by Jordan who was extremely helpful with the children eat free menu (because it was half term) and our drinks requests. I have stayed here a few times and it is exactly what you need before an early flight. Parking easy, rooms comfy and staff happy to help. Brekky is good enough, not excellent but I cant eat that early and what is in offer is adequate for what we needed. I will always stay here for an early Stansted flight esp because its a short walk undercover to the terminal."

Talbooth House & Spa

8/10 Good

"The staff were amazing, the rooms are lovely. One small downside to the rooms was the sockets are on the very bottom of the wall (on the skirting boards) so there is no room for plus with USB’s at the bottom as the plug is already touching the floor. Spa was very nice. Breakfast was lovely the next day."

Wivenhoe House Hotel

8/10 Good

"Lots of dust on the skirting next to bathroom Reception does not answer calls ,called 3 times and doesn’t call back Restaurant : the waitress promised to bring child dresser at the end (it was ice cream ),but it was not brought but we were charged for that ,realised just next day that dessert was not brought Overall nice location and nice balcony view"

Holiday Inn Express Colchester by IHG

8/10 Good

"It’s a holiday inn next to a garage with a Waitrose. It’s a fairly nice one tho. Lovely reception / dining area. Bathrooms superb. Tv a little old but ok. Heating not working but had an electric oil radiator. Food fairly poor and very expensive like similar holiday inns. Breakfast was ok. I’d stay here again tho if necessary."
