Anneth Glamping Pod

Anneth Glamping Pod

10/10 Excellent
"The Anneth Glamping pod is a cozy hut set at a diagonal to a private home close to the Armadale ferry port and Armadale Castle and Gardens. Despite being next to the owner’s home, it is very private as the opening faces a beautiful ocean and hill view. The owner, Colin, is very responsive and helpful but respected our privacy completely. The hut itself is organized very well with a cozy bed, two comfortable armchairs, a modern television and small table. The kitchenette is sufficient with a hot plate, microwave and kettle. The shower is large and comfortable. The little hut wastes no space but on sunny days there is an attached deck with seating and the spectacular views. We found it comfortable for two people but it is not especially spacious. Down the road a short walk is Cafe 1925, with delicious food on from Thursday - Sunday. A few steps beyond is an inn with a cozy pub and a nice dining room. It is close to Armadale Castle and Gardens which is worth a visit as the gardens are lovely, the ruins of the castle are interesting but the Museum of the Isles is the highlights with tons of information on the history of Scotland and the Isles. There is also a nice cafe there. Anneth Glamping pod was a great place to spend our first two days on Skye. It is a good value and the “vibe” is so nice, largely due to the owner’s care given to the design and his friendly welcome. The view is also something quite special."

Loch Shiel Hotel

Loch Shiel Hotel

8/10 Good
"This property sits in an amazing locale, and one that is not necessarily the easiest location to get to either. The route I traveled was miles upon miles of single-track, winding road through amazing, rugged country. The staff were very eager to help me out as they could, when I inquired if they had the laundry service, rather than telling me “no” they offered the use of their own wash facilities. The bar at the inn doubles as a sort of community center, one night was a jovial and impromptu karaoke, the next night was a local community group. A real slice of life."

"The hotel was beautiful and perfect location with beautiful views. The front desk Bob was wonderful and helpful. The bar server James was very nice. Now the restaurant for dinner was absolutely amazing, from appetizer, main course to desert with Katlyn as our server. But the lounge area was rustic in a very good way which made you feel comfortable. The room was very nice and a great size for bathroom."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Cleadale?
The best area to stay in Cleadale is without a doubt the main village area itself, particularly around the road that winds through the crofts. This is the heart of Cleadale, a small, spread-out community located on the Isle of Eigg. You'll find most of the available accommodation here, ranging from self-catering cottages to guesthouses. The area is characterised by traditional croft houses, often with stunning views of the dramatic cliffs and the sea towards the Isle of Rum. The main road is unpaved in places, adding to the rural feel, and it's where you'll find the community hall and the island's shop.Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Cleadale ideal. The pace of life is slow, offering a chance to reconnect with nature and each other. You can enjoy long walks along the coastline, spotting wildlife, or simply relax with a book, taking in the spectacular scenery from your accommodation. The remoteness means clear night skies, great for stargazing.Families with older children who appreciate outdoor activities will also enjoy Cleadale. The area provides opportunities for exploring the unique Sgurr of Eigg, a dramatic pitchstone ridge, or venturing to the beautiful Singing Sands beach, known for the unique sound its quartz grains make when walked upon.
When is the best time to go to Cleadale?

The longer daylight hours mean more time for sightseeing and enjoying the scenery. May and June often offer beautiful wildflowers, while July and August are typically the warmest. For those keen on wildlife spotting, particularly birdwatching, the spring and early summer are ideal. Many migratory birds return to the island to breed, making for excellent viewing opportunities.
