The guy who checked us in was lovely. We didn't use the pub or restaurant so couldn't comment on them. Our room, bed and bathroom were very big and comfortable on the ground floor with our own entrance from the street. There was no space in the hotel car park as it is very small with only about 4 spaces. Our room was quaint, and historic but had all the modern conveniences, and the bathroom was the size of a dance hall! The staff were warm and friendly. We were in an attic room with limited space when we had booked a ‘comfort’ room. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable though. It was up two very steep flights of narrow stairs - we carried our own suitcases. There was no plug for the vanity basin and no soap in the dispenser. My wife and I like a cool room to sleep in but the radiator was full on and when I tried to turn it down the thermostat dial fell off. So we had to sleep with no duvet or covers The room was vastly overpriced in the first place and we had a very uncomfortable night.. We booked and stayed two nights B&B. The accommodation is what we'd call basic. The breakfast was very poor. The team seemed extremely inexperienced. We felt that The Red Lion is really a drinking pub with accommodation and food as a slightly irritating afterthought. There are plenty of other places to stay in CC for not much more money.
