Not to be confused as a "diamond in in the rough"
My husband and I waited three years to allow ourselves a vacation and it ended up a sub par at this historic hotel. Both my husband and I are easy-going, common people understand unfortunate circumstances, unfortunately we had multiple unfortunate circumstances that were being swept under the rug by management. As we knew how, we followed the chain of command regarding the small, out dated room, a shower where the water temp could not be regulated, and mysterious insect bites neither of us remember going to bed with. We spoke to Expedia following our fist night requesting simpley to be relocated to another hotel in the area so we could finish out our over due vacation in peace, but twice an Expedia representative said they would contact the hotel manager and call us back only to have us wait around for no results. Hours later we contact Expedia for a third time and we get the same response, except this representative reads previous documentation stating "the manager will call in 30 minutes with further cancellation details", but again, no results. So, we take it a bit further. When we return to our hotel, my husband requests to speak with the manager and attempts to lead on about the situation, but the front desk says "the manager is out, she will call your room in 30 minutes". Foolishly, we waste more time waiting patiently to be swept a bit further under the rug for a total of two hours. The next day we stay the process over and are refunded 1 night we did not stay.
