Not a four star
We arrived at the hotel at 3:40 PM. We were told our room "wouldn't be ready for another 45 minutes" (notwithstanding the fact that check in was at 3 PM) but that we could get into a river view room immediately for only $50.00 more. We declined and told the front desk person that we would be back in 45 minutes. He told took my cell number and said that they would text or call us when the room was ready. They never did. We went and had a drink outside the hotel and returned an hour later, only to be told it still wasn't ready--now going on 4:30 PM. We told the front desk person (the same guy as earlier) that we had an event and had to get ready so we needed the room. He put us in a "river view" room that he was going to try to up-charge me on when I first arrived. We went to the room and got settled in and began to get ready--only to find that there was no hot water. None--not in the sink or shower. We called down and were told that the hot water in the entire hotel was out. I asked how long this had been going on and when it would be fixed? I was told "it just happened and that it would be fixed within an hour." Too long for us, as we had to get ready. Nice ice cold Lake Michigan-water-temp shower. No apologies or even mention by the hotel. This place has become a crowded, high traffic tourist hotel. We live in Chicago, if you are looking for a high-end hotel experience, there are way better places. Best to stay way.
