LOGIS HÔTEL LES MARÉCHAUX

10/10 Excellent

"Very welcoming place to be."

Hotel Le Maxime, BW Signature Collection

8/10 Good

"Great location on the river bank and in the old town. 5 mins from cathedral. This is an historic hotel so rooms were small but well furnished. Good private, secure parking in hotel."

Le Mitigana

10/10 Excellent

"The room was very basic but the staff and restaurant were extraordinary!"

Le Domaine de la Clarté

10/10 Excellent

"This was a great property and a very fair price. Super well positioned if you are touring north Burgundy as it 4 mins from the A6. A huge supermarket just 11 mins away. Well equipped kitchen. My only problem was that all the communications came through Expedia including the code to get the key. So you need to be really sure you can access your Expedia messages to enter the property. Several guests were struggling a little bit with access when we were there - although they all seemed to get in eventually!"

Hostellerie des Clos

10/10 Excellent

"Nice quiet hotel in a quaint town. Restaurant was very good. I would stay there again for sure"

Kyriad Direct Auxerre Appoigny

10/10 Excellent

"The staff were really friendly and helpful, our room was single storey which meant we could park the Motorbikes outside our door. And they served beer !! Restaurants are either next door or a short walk away."

B&B HOTEL Auxerre Monéteau

10/10 Excellent

"Great stop off when travelling"

Ibis Budget Auxerre Nord (Ouverture Printemps 2025)

10/10 Excellent

"Great room, good for a family stopover."

Mercure Auxerre Autoroute du Soleil

10/10 Excellent

"Nous avions une situation particulière à notre arrivée et la préposée nous as fourni une chambre, même si nous sommes arrivée à 8h00 le matin. Ce fût des plus apprécié. L'hotel offre les 3 repas par jour, ce qui est un atout. Très bon petit déjeuner. Chambre spacieuse et bonne climatisation. Seul bémol, la piscine est très creuse (de 1,50 à 1,90 M), donc à déconseiller pour les jeunes enfants. Stationnement facile d'accès et spacieux."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Cheu?

The best area to stay in Cheu is the village centre itself, particularly around the church and the main square. This area is the heart of Cheu, offering a quintessential Bourgogne village experience. It's compact and very walkable, with a few local shops, a bakery, and a restaurant or two typically found along its main thoroughfare, Rue de l'Église. The architecture is traditional Burgundian, characterised by stone houses and vine-covered walls.Couples looking for a quiet, romantic escape will find the village centre ideal. It provides a peaceful base to explore the surrounding vineyards and enjoy the slow pace of rural French life. You're perfectly positioned for leisurely walks through the village and easy access to local wine-tasting experiences. For travellers interested in a more secluded and private experience, the countryside immediately surrounding Cheu offers several excellent options, often in converted farmhouses or gîtes. These properties typically provide more space, larger gardens, and often have views of the rolling hills and vineyards. These countryside stays are superb for those who appreciate tranquility and privacy, perhaps preferring to self-cater and enjoy the scenery from their own terrace.

When is the best time to go to Cheu?

The best time to visit Cheu is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.Spring offers pleasant weather, with temperatures typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C, making it ideal for exploring the vineyards and enjoying outdoor activities. The countryside is lush and green, and the grapevines are just beginning to bud, providing beautiful scenery. This period is particularly good for couples interested in wine tasting tours and leisurely walks.Autumn is another excellent choice, especially for those interested in the grape harvest season, which usually takes place in September. The temperatures are still mild, generally between 12°C and 18°C, and the vineyards transform with stunning golden and crimson hues. This season provides a unique opportunity to witness the winemaking process first-hand, and many local festivals celebrate the harvest.
