Flights to Swords
Swords is so close to Dublin International Airport that, if you have an early morning flight, you can beat the crowds on the golf course, enjoy elevenses at a stately home or even be at your hotel in time for a late breakfast. Just a couple of miles up the road from the airport, Swords couldn’t be easier to get to, whether you are taking a holiday or travelling here for business. Of course, at the end of your break there’s no need to worry about leaving half a day spare for your transfer either.
Flight Routes to and from Swords
Dublin Airport has over 40 daily departures to UK airports alone, with stunning views of the Irish Sea below. The airport is served by an extensive range of budget and flagship carriers, Ryanair and Aer Lingus amongst them of course, but also British Airways, Air France, Delta, Flybe, Turkish Airlines and Emirates. Routes and flight timings are varied, making Swords easily accessible from Europe and the wider world.
Remember that Ireland uses the Euro. If you need currency on arrival then there are ATMs available at the airport, but it’s worth looking around for the best rates before departure. As one of the UK’s busiest airports, you can expect to find everything you need at Dublin International, from duty-free shops to relaxing executive lounges in both terminals, and concierge services which can be very useful if travelling in a large group.
Getting to Swords
Swords is a very short distance from Dublin Airport, and benefits from superb road connections. The M1 motorway that connects Dublin to Belfast passes close by, and the M50 with many other access routes is just out of town. More than 600 bus services pass through Main Street alone every day.
Airport taxis can be flagged down just outside the Arrivals, and will get you into Swords very quickly, but if you want to really get the full benefit of a holiday here then car hireis a good idea. That way you can roam the delightful Irish countryside at your leisure, and not be dependent on the schedules of public transport. By booking in advance with Expedia you can ensure a suitable vehicle will be waiting for you on arrival, with all the support you’ll need.
When to Fly to Swords
You can always rely on the unpredictability of the Irish weather. One moment the sun is shining, the next there are dark clouds forming overhead. Not ideal if you’re trying to organise a garden party of course, but the vagaries of the skies above do at least make for a reliable conversation starter. October to January traditionally see the Swords area receive the highest amount of rainfall, while June to August tend to be the warmest months of the year. Summertime also sees the fantastic Flavours of Fingal Agricultural and Horticultural Festival, held at the Newbridge House and Gardens, a grand day out.
