Really smooth operation

Whether reasonable or not, we perceived Ryanair to have a crap reputation. We were just pleasantly relieved that nothing was particularly bad.

We were sited by emergency exit. In the past there were no set blocking the exit. In case of emergency, Would be very hard and even impassible for someone big, old with arthritis to clam over the set and get out. I felt unsafe.

Without wanting to seem rude, it's the budget airline that has taken all the glamour and fun out of travelling as they are no perks or home comforts/frills whereby the commonest facilities available to most airlines (like drinking water) must be paid additionally for (I am waiting for a £1 charge to use the loo next?) I consed that the tickets are cheap (even once you added all the basics on, LIKE LUGGAGE), however I was stunned to learn that an airline had the audacity to charge for luggage?! - Who on earth travels the globe without baggage?-which is why it has always been included with the flight...I am 41 and I have flying since birth transatlantic (boarding schools) and later for life and work with the major airlines (BA, Cathay, Singapore, Delta, South-west, United, AA, Air France/KLM etc often in first or business but mainly in Economy/premium eco. so one can't compare the two worlds different leagues of airlines. I am fairly new to Ryan Air/Easy jet and it is just so different to the way I used to travel. We made an effort when dressing to travel and we were made to feel like important paying customers and were always treated with respect and hospitality. I know the 1990's saw the introduction of backpacking and a new sub class of travel emerged and today everyone travels and all the once hidden gems have been ruined by over tourism and airports and now like cites to accommodate the massive increases of travellers, so I have to accept the things have drastically changed i air travel.(I even travelled in a pair of shorts from Nice to Stanstead sporting a rucksack - lol) I see the need for budget airlines (as I need to use them know for short trips) however I feel, more like castle being herded on board rather than a customer. I know there are a lot of Chavs and badly behaved drunken louts (shamefully often British) however there remains a large segment of customers who resent being treated in such a manner. Having worked in service being with the public and of course having experienced true airline hospitality (especially that in Asia), I get unnerved by these 18-25 year old gay trolley dollies on Ryan Air (I am also gay...but without the attitude) that are almost insulted if you politely ask for something (a drink, whatever) and to receive tutting and deep exhalations and rolling eyes at your simply request is not on! They seem to have forgotten that is it their job to serve customers as without them they wouldn't have a job! This is more a change in work attitudes of the millennials who feel so much more entitled that we were so that is not exclusive to your staff. Generally I find the female stewardesses/attendants to be polite and professional - The two stewardesses on my last RA flight were polite, professional and hospitable - Lovely! :) In short, my main complaint would be insulting people's intelligence with all the add on upon online booking - Include the basics like luggage in your price and then perhaps offer a discount if people decided they don't need cloths, medication or personal possessions. You would probably find more people click on that full price (with luggage) as it makes then question then the validity of travelling without anything (?). I know Ryan air has it's target market however, that may shrink of people don't feel valued as customers. I hope this wasn't too exhaustive to read through, however, I just thought it might give you a traveller's point of view (amongst the millions there are) and hopefully something I have written may be constructive.
