Gothenburg is under two hours from European capitals such as London, Amsterdam and Berlin, with direct flights available from many major cities. Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport offers around 90 routes to destinations across Europe, meaning the city can be easily accessed from other parts of the continent.
Gothenburg’s Three Airports
Plan your journey into Gothenburg by picking a flight to one of its three airports. Gothenburg-Landvetter, located about 30 minutes east of the city, is the major transport hub in southwest Sweden and has direct flights to major cities throughout Europe. Shuttle buses run from the airport directly into the city centre.
Gothenburg City Airport, just over 15 kilometres north of the centre, is slightly closer but has fewer services to the continent. A number of budget airlines, including Ryanair and Wizz Air, fly into Gothenburg City Airport, and a coach service to and from the city operates on a timetable that is designed to fit in with the schedule of arriving and departing flights. Alternatively, taxis and limousine services can also be arranged.
The third airport near to Gothenburg is the small Trollhättan-Vänersborg, about an hour north of the city. Flights here go to and from Bromma in Stockholm. Fly to Trollhättan-Vänersborg for easy access to the lakes and hills around the pretty town of Vänersborg.
