This welcoming rental offers visitors convenient access to all the city has to offer. Located on the 1st floor of a historic Charleston single home built in the late 1800s, the rental overlooks Cannon street's neighborhood & provides a true Charleston experience for guests. Walkable to MUSC, CofC, King Street’s most popular retail and restaurants, & more. The Space: Summons the expression of truly refined Ante-Bellum experience with all modern amenities. In the kitchen enjoy the timeless La CornueFe gas oven and cooktop range from Saint-Ouen l'Aumone, France served by a whisper quiet Vent-a-hood. Here you can celebrate the glorious culinary traditions of the Old World using only top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and utensils. Stemless red and white wine glasses were not overlooked. All coffee mugs, and glasses are made of clear insulated glass along with the serving plates, salad plates and bowls so be assured every item will sparkle for you. Tidy up after a meal using the stainless bridge faucet in the farmhouse porcelain sink. All items are stored using efficient Rev-a-shelf hardware to house the spices, cutlery, flatware and accessories. Of course, the cabinetry and kitchen island are hand made on-site using only heart pine sourced during the renovation of the house, from the house. The crystal-clear Samsung high-definition 4k smart flat screen is viewable from the living room and kitchen. Xfinity cable. Netflix, Amazon video, and Hulu are intuitively available at the touch of the remote and are complimentary. All bathrooms are tiled using the original re-purposed slate from Vermont dating back to when the house was built by shipwrights in 1851\. The original standing-seam tin front porch roofing was salvaged and is applied to the walls as the backsplash to the hand-made heart pine vanities with hand-hammered nickel-plated vessel sinks. Both bathrooms feature slate-tiled walk-in showers with Kohler rain-head showers. The water closets were sourced from Kent, England to provide a period feel from the Old-World. In every bedroom, we provide you with a sound machine as well as smart-charging stations for your electronic devices. Enjoy the combination of ship-lap wood walls and heart pine throughout. Most, if not all, heart pine material used dates back to approximately the year 1600. Outdoor- Remember that before the advent of air conditioning, Charlestonians tended to congregate on their porches to socialize and spend time to enjoy a cool sea breeze. There are rocking chairs on the porch making it a great place to relax with a book while watching the happenings on Cannon Street. But you do not have to settle for just one porch.. you have a rear porch and patio to enjoy as well. The patio has a lounge chair sofa with an Acorn barbecue grill, all utensils and charcoal provided. Operating Permit: OP2025-06529 Guest Access: You have access to the large front porch with dedicated seating for only you, rear porch, and patio with big Green Egg charcoal grill, charcoal being complimentary of course. The Neighborhood: The home is set in Cannonborough, an inviting downtown area blending historic and stylish residential homes. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston, as well as Upper King Street’s eateries and shopping. Getting Around: There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are very common. You will not face any delay catching an uber. Other Things to Note: We are three blocks from King Street. Cannon Street dead ends into King where you would be right in the middle of all the activity - many nice restaurants such as The Darling, the Grocery, Ordinary, Endaco, good places to have drinks like Stars, the Belmont, Midtown, Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street. Pick the experience - fine dining to relaxed outdoor dining, it is here. You could look up Hominy Grill, Chez Nous, Trattoria Lucca, Fuel, Goulette. Since Cannon Street (and Spring Street) are the only legal areas in the city to host an AirBnb in Charleston, you will be in good company here. If you want the full Charleston experience you need to sign up for a walking tour or carriage tour, a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter several times daily so that you can land your two feet at exactly where the Civil War started. Probably one of the cleanest properties we’ve ever rented through VRBO. We did have trouble with communication as we never received any information on how to check in until I called the day prior to our arrival. We never did meet the owner of the home - wish we had because it would have been nice to be able to tell him what a fantastic job he did on the renovation! ##### Rachel s. The fire alarms went off on our last day early that morning. When I tried calling property owners there was no answer nor was a call returned. The home is renovated beautifully and located within walking distance to everything. The house was clean and comfortable. The front porch was perfect for relaxing at night and people watching. George left a ton of great and detailed information to make guests enjoy their stay to the max! We would definitely stay in this historic gem again upon return. We enjoyed the city and found this location to be perfect. We walked to most places we went to eat/drink with one night as an exception. Even then, it was a short Uber ride. George was a great host and has done an incredible job with the place. The big surprise was how much we loved the porch. We stayed out on the porch pretty late just about every night.
