Across the bay, the Akrotiri Peninsular forms a perfect backdrop. This well thought out Villa, with all accommodation on one level, has been designed to make holiday living as uncomplicated as it should be. With a colour palette chosen to harmonize with the land/seascape, the interior is pared back yet comfortable and practical. Step through the sliding doors onto the terrace and the eye-catching infinity pool, surrounded by quality sun beds, awaits. Bonus for those who love to social media as the Starlink satellite provides fast wifi service. Location Megala Chorafia Just 10 mins walk up the hill or maybe a little longer, (it’s fairly steep so sigar, sigar - slowly slowly in Greek) is the village of Megala Chorafia, catering well for the holiday maker, there’s a well stocked mini market and three tavernas. If you prefer to drive, you follow the one way road downhill then back up again but walk or drive it’s a short and easy return journey. Although the village has everything you need, Villa Nikos is very well placed to explore the island further, being just a couple of minutes drive from the North Coast Road. The quiet beach at Kiani is an easy 3 mins drive, the buzzing little resort of [Kalives](https://www.freelancevillas.com/armeni-kalives-villas/) 5 mins and [Chania](https://www.freelancevillas.com/chania-villas/) Venetian Harbour front is less than 30 mins away. For a change of scene and some excellent freshly caught fish - head for Souda, just 10 mins away and very popular with the locals. Super clean. Everything you want provided for. The host was very organised and responded to any enquiries we have immediately. Freelance villas were professional from start to finish. All the info prior to arrival was very helpful and we referred to the manual many times during our 12 day stay. We really enjoyed the fact that we could walk up to the restaurants in the village - our favorite being the Taverna Aptera. It would be helpful if there was a map of the island plus pen and paper. I was chilly at night so a light blanket in the cupboard. Walking distance to Aptera which has a basic mini market, taverna, kafenion and restaurant. The views across Souda Bay are stunning and offer interest with ships and submarines using the port regularly. You can see planes landing and taking off in the distance but there is no noise from the airport. However, as the villa overlooks the main E75 highway, there is the constant sound of traffic but you soon learn to tune this out. Villa Nikos is extremely well laid out and both the living room furniture and the beds are comfortable. It is cleaned twice a week by a delightful lady and the pool guys are unobtrusive and thorough. The owner was very helpful and fixed a problem we had immediately. Our favourite supermarket was the EKAABENITHE in Souda, laid out on two floors with a car park opposite but there is also a SYN.KA further up the street. We visited Chania several times, as it was so near, the Botanical Gardens, Ancient Aptera, Elafonisi Beach, Lake Kournas (go early before the crowds descend) the Springs of Argyroupolis (which are full of restaurants and not a lot else), Rethymno and also caught the ferry from Chora Sfakion to Loutro. So there is plenty to do! I would definitely recommend a stay at Villa Nikos and would like to thank everyone who helped to make our holiday in Crete so special. ##### Sarah B. We arrived at night so couldn’t see much. However when we woke up in the morning, what a surprise. The views are simply breathtaking. The pictures don’t do it justice. The villa itself is perfectly put together and extremely comfortable. We are a family of 6 +1 baby and had plenty of space. The surrounding area is lovely and you're central to all the local towns etc. We would recommend a visit to Old Town Chania, Wine tasting in the hills at Dourakis winery and a meal at the local Taverna "The Aptera" We ate in quite a lot, so the only thing I would say is a few more utensils. Sharper kitchen knife, serving spoons. The villa has a very nice infinity pool, a large barbeque and several seating areas around the house. The villa is well equipped. We slept very well in the comfortable beds. the cleanliness in the villa was very good. We can really recommend the villa for a nice vacation.
