Georgio helped us up to the top floor with our heavy luggage and then spent quite a bit of time describing best restaurants for various meals and times day. He is quite proud of Chania and Helena Hotel. The location in the old town is convenient and charming, as is the hotel itself. My only caveat about the Helena is its lack of an elevator - it's a rare hotel in the old town that has one. The same is true in the old towns in other Cretan cities. If mobility is an issue request a room on a lower floor. If you have a car parking is a beast, but that's true of everywhere in Chania, especially the old town. It was a great hotel which had a perfect location with everything within walking distance. Clean and tidy hotel with good sized rooms. Bedrooms with the Chania harbour view are amazing and beautiful. Staff who were a father and son team were excellent, extremely helpful, polite, welcoming, pleasant and accommodating who went the extra mile to assist us.
