The octagon shaped Bachuma tent sits on 1000 sq ft of deck space and has 6 floor-to-ceiling netted windows, allowing for cooling cross breezes, and 2 secure entries. The glass front door opens directly onto the private 22’ saltwater infinity pool with unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea, with the back door giving private access to an oversized, coral stone, garden shower. A foot path and bamboo gate offers easy access from the pool deck to the outdoor shower. The tent’s 14’ ceiling and 6’ netted windows allow for natural air living, with the option to air condition if you’d prefer. Interior furnishings include a locally made 4 poster king bed fitted with luxury white bedding and oversized pillows, 2 plantation chairs, small table and a locally crafted woven bench. The interior bathroom includes a river rock sink atop a mahogany vanity, a wardrobe with hangers and drawers, a towel rack and toilet. The fully equipped outdoor kitchen and mahogany bar include a gas barbecue, mini-fridge with freezer, utility sink and a collection of appliances that include an ice maker, air fryer, blender, toaster, coffee maker, beach cooler and your general kitchen supplies. The bbq has a cast iron griddle and a fish basket for the catch of the day! An outside dining table with canvas backed linen covered chairs, umbrellas and sun loungers are all poolside. A large grassy area adjacent to the deck is another lovely spot to gaze at the ocean shaded by a towering almond tree. The tech elements are remote LED pool lights, a Bluetooth speaker for your holiday soundtrack and a mini-projector with a 100” fabric screen to stream your favourite content, either outside or directly onto the tent canvas ceiling! THE PROPERTY: The property has a quaint white sand beach area for Lumière guests only, with loungers and a hammock under mature almond and coconut trees, and direct access to the water or our natural pebble/rock beach…a fun place to collect shells and sea glass. The protected cove is host to a collection of snorkelling reefs (snorkelling gear supplied) abundant with tropical fish, coral and the occasional turtle and octopus! We are also anchoring a swim up floating hammock for sea lounging! The top of the property is where our orchard is located, with fruiting trees such as mango, avocado, orange, grapefruit, lemon, cocoa, soursop, lime and passion fruit. You will also discover cherry, breadfruit, guava, pineapples, watermelons and many other fruit and vegetable species throughout the property. With an abundance of coconut trees, you can request fresh coconut water to sip poolside when the gardener is on site. Leaving the property by foot, you can easily stroll (or jog for those looking for a good run), around the peninsula to visit historic sites like the Vigie Lighthouse, the British Barracks & Meadows Battery and other war time relics scattered about. Of course the golden sands of Vigie Beach is an easy 10 minute saunter, with its collection of seaside restaurants, bars and rentable beach chairs. Local Castries restaurants are just 5 mins away by car, including the beautiful Coal Pot Restaurant located waterside or The Pink Plantation House perched above Castries on the picturesque Mourne. Other restaurants and bars are throughout the capital, including at Pointe Seraphine, the duty free, cruise ship, outdoor shopping district. But don’t be surprised if the peaceful magic of Lumière keeps you from going anywhere. Our concierge is always on call to help answer any questions or arrange services and experiences. We can arrange private boat trips to the Pitons and volcano, sometimes directly from Lumière’s if water conditions allow. We work with a car service company so please ask about airport transfers or land tours. For health and wellness we offer in-house professional massages. Thought we might need the AC but the ocean breezes changed our minds. The property is so large that you feel secluded but are not far from town. We enjoyed seeing the cruise ships come and go from the port every day. We did rent a car but the small airport is very close with many taxis available for hire. The property was exactly as described—if not better!One of our favorite moments was soaking in the tranquility by the pool, completely immersed in the serene surroundings. We were initially a little skittish about being near the entry to the cruise ship port, but it turned out to be a non-issue. In fact, it became an unexpected source of entertainment, watching the ships come and go without it ever feeling intrusive.Originally, we had planned a couple of trips to local attractions and beaches, but once we settled in, we realized we didn’t want to leave! The property had everything we truly needed for a perfect, relaxing escape. From the beautifully designed interiors to the peaceful outdoor spaces, every moment here felt like a retreat in itself.The hosts clearly put a lot of care into making sure guests have a comfortable and seamless experience. What an amazing spot and we want to go back.For our trip, we rented a car from UVF. The drive is a bit hairy but we managed. The host offers to figure out drives if that’s what you prefer. Took us a bit over 2 hours. There is a grocery store right at the last roundabout before you head toward Vigie. It’s only about a 3 min drive away. The property itself is secluded, secure and close enough to amenities and restaurants that you don’t feel so far away. The proximity to the smaller airport and the large cruise port was initially concerning, but like previous reviewers commented, it actually became a source of entertainment. We loved watching all of the catamarans, boats, small planes going by. Don’t be discouraged by this! You’ll love it and still feel like you’re in your own private spot. Property is tastefully decorated, loads of space and the view is unmatched. We spent most of our time enjoying coffee down on the lower deck or relaxing in the pool.There isn’t a sandy beach on this property but there is water access. The water is so warm and my husband loved to snorkel. Vigie beach is so close if you want some white sand. All of the towels, kitchen amenities, pool floaties, snorkelling gear are there. The only thing I would have liked was an extra blanket. Bed and pillows are otherwise very comfortable.
