"Beautiful location and a beautiful room. We stayed in a cave room and it was so nice! The bed was very comfy The hotel team reached out in advance and on the day of arrival to ensure we knew where to park and to arrange our transfer from the car park (15e return). The staff were all very friendly! Breakfast was great with a great view from the terrace Dinner at Regia Corte was a little underwhelming for the price but the pizza place was great! We enjoyed exploring the city everything in the old town/cava are is walkable from the hotel just lots of steep steps"

"Hotel San Giorgio was a beautiful hotel right in the heart of historic Matera! We were able to stay in the cave hotel which felt both amazing and unique. The room is literally built from the caves of Matera. The room has all the typical amenities and they also had air conditioning. Within their hotel is a walkable cave highlighting many of the items that the people utilized and made during ancient times. Benny and Luigi were both helpful and helpful. There are plenty of residents in the local vicinity to Matera that you never have to leave the grounds. The only regret we had was that we did not stay longer as it was a wonderful place filled with so much history. A UNESCO Heritage Site, it was exciting to view first hand this extraordinary civilization and how they lived."

"We loved this hotel. The location was fantastic, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. Staying in a cave room was such a unique and cool experience, and the room itself was gorgeous. The spa circuit was amazing, and the included buffet breakfast was fantastic, especially with the made-to-order options. We would highly recommend this place."

"We absolutely loved our stay at Cenobio Hotel in Matera. Staying in a cave hotel was such a unique experience and felt like the perfect way to experience the Sassi, while still being incredibly comfortable. The climate-controlled air conditioning worked wonderfully, and the room was a welcome retreat after spending the day exploring Matera. What really made our stay exceptional, though, was Mario. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to take care of us. He met us in the piazza where our taxi dropped us off and helped us carry our luggage to the hotel, which we greatly appreciated given Matera’s many steps and stone streets! He was also incredibly helpful during our stay, including assisting us with restaurant reservations. The combination of the beautiful cave accommodations, wonderful location, and genuinely personal hospitality made this one of the memorable stays of our trip through Italy. We would highly recommend Cenobio to anyone visiting Matera and would happily stay here again."
