Carmona has all the charm of nearby Seville, but on a smaller scale. Come visit this magnificent town to explore its many monuments, ranging from the extreme simplicity of the Romans to the ostentatious Baroque, as well as the subtle forms of the Arab style. During your holidays in Carmona, you’ll be able to appreciate the many sides to this city, which can claim to be one of the oldest in all of Europe. At the Carmona Archaeological Site, you can admire two of the oldest monuments in the area: the Necropolis and the Roman Amphitheatre, built between the 1st and 2nd centuries. But the tourist attraction par excellence of Carmona is the Alcázar de la Puerta de Sevilla, a palace whose patios you can visit before climbing to the top of the famous Torre del Oro to take in the unbeatable panoramic views. The other great Arab fort is the Alcázar del Rey Don Pedro, now a Parador, which is accessed through the Puerta de Córdoba and which offers a viewpoint with magnificent views of the Vega de Carmona fields that surround the city. It is a real pleasure to lose yourself in the historic old town of Carmona, made up of charming cobbled streets surrounded by white houses. Keep wandering and you’ll come across the beautiful Plaza del Mercado de Abastos market place, which occupies a former Dominican convent, surrounded by porticos that are home to stalls with all kinds of products.
