The home is located just a quarter mile from the Shops at Carmel-by-the-sea and less than a mile from Carmel Beach. Your home away from home! The space Located near all points of interest (shops, beaches, hikes). Kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal (if we don’t, please inform us). Beautiful backyard deck for you to enjoy. Make this rare estate in a rare location your home. CLEANING: When cleaning arrives all windows are opened, sheets cleaned, and all surfaces, couches, chairs, light/lamp switches, door knobs, cabinets, refrigerator handles, garbage can, floors and bathrooms are disinfected with Clorox spray. Guest access Access to entire home, front yard, and backyard with huge deck. Other things to note If you plan on going to the shops or beach in Carmel-by-the-sea, it may be better to walk as parking is very limited. It’s not far, it’s a beautiful walk and you can burn some extra calories if you’re into that sorta thing. Please do not enter the property until 3pm on your check-in date. Our cleaners will be at your door at 11AM on your check-out date. Checkin: Checkin is at 4 PM Checkout: at 10 AM, cleaning crew is scheduled to arrive then. The house was great size for our group. (we had 6 people and dogs) The outdoor area was spacious and fenced in, so it was perfect for our dogs to run around and enjoy the outside. It is within walking distance from downtown Carmel, and 15 min drive to Monterey. We asked owner for early check in when we first booked. We were told to ask again the day we checked in. We did. Owner said they would let us know when cleaners left. Kitchen and living areas are comfortable and easy to use. The backyard is beautiful, with a nice propane BBQ, and having the hot tub was a nice bonus. It is a pet friendly home and I always appreciate high quality properties with fenced yards and the dog was very comfortable here, as were we. I'd definitely come back.For older guests or those with difficulty walking up/down hills, please know this is not walkable to downtown. It is convenient and a short drive but the walkway going downtown is extremely uneven and steep in segments to downtown Carmel. No issue for me, but not doable for my parents (80s).We found it best to back into the driveway because backing onto Ocean is tricky as it is a main thoroughfare. Major construction on the street started our second day there, which was very noisy, but the workers were wonderfully polite and helped block traffic when we came in and out of the driveway. They also worked reasonable hours, so aside from a slightly deeper ditch going into the driveway, it wasn't a problem. However, sleeping in in the front bedrooms would not be an option. If you're staying here in the next month or two, hopefully the property owners will have information to share in advance so you can plan, as we were not notified.The day we arrived we had one question and the hosts got back to us right away, which is always a good sign. There is a great deal of noise from the main street location which continues long into the night. The rooms are much smaller than we anticipated to accomodate 6 people...not even enough furniture in the living room for 6 people to sit. Typical items one would expect just weren't provided - for example, there were no floor mats/rugs in the bathrooms getting out off the shower. The kitchen was not very well appointed - plastic plates, mismatched glasses and silverware, old pots and pans. The stove was filthy and the bbq was as well and was rusted and burned out in spots making it completely useless. We have rented in two other homes in Carmel and had fantastic experiences. My sister was not able to use the door la to the deck from her room because unfortunately crew did not complete. The deck furniture was all on the ground floor so couldn’t really use on deck as it wasn’t ready. Drive way entrance has a huge slope and although it was mentioned in the listing it didn’t really capture how bad the slope really is. I had a Tahoe and still it hit the bottom. Now for the pluses….great location on Ocean Ave….walking distance to shops and restaurants. Fireplace great and room separation worked perfectly. Only 2 cocktail glasses which was odd considering loaded with wine glasses. Over all we still had a good time ##### Blanca A. Located a brief walk from the main downtown stretch of Carmel, it was a confortable gathering place. The living room is quite large and the backyard is huge and exceptionally well-maintained.
