Nature in County Carlow

At over 2,500 feet high, the impressive Mount Leinster is the highest of the Blackstairs Mountains. Head out hiking, cycling, or even have a go at hang gliding. Situated just a few miles east of the town of Borris, there’s no better place to enjoy views across the fecund Barrow Valley and the lush green patchwork of the County Carlow countryside.

Farmers’ Markets in County Carlow

As well as being on Mount Leinster’s doorstep, Borris also hosts a regular craft farmers’ market. Packed with mouth-watering local produce, stop off for some home-cooked food, Irish cheeses, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, as well as a range of arts of crafts. In summer, the nearby town of Tullow also hosts an annual agricultural festival. This is one of the largest in Ireland and makes a great day out whether you’re a fan of farming or not.
