Room was not ready at 4.45 pm and so we were given another room which obviously needed refurbishment. The bedside lamps and tv remote did not work.

Pros: See above
A larger hotel. I was immediately struck by the friendliness of the staff, and this continued throughout my short stay. Room was large and comfortable. Food at the restaurant was very good with huge portions. My only criticism, and it is a significant one, is that there was so much noise throughout the night. The hotel was hosting two large functions (on a Sunday evening!) and the revelries continued through to the early hours. What disturbed me was regular slamming (that is what is sounded like) of doors. I was woken on several occasions by this. I would recommend this hotel if there are no all night functions planned for that evening, or the room is well away from the activities. A shame, as in all other aspects I liked the place.

Cons: The only negative was a foul smell on the ground floor corridor (I am sure it was down to a vending machine leaking gasses)
Location: Excellent for business and touring
Room was very comfortable and clean, The staff were very welcoming and courteous. Breakfast was a very good quality and extensive in choice. Evening meal menu was a little limited in choice, but, done to a high standard. The WIFI was excellent connectivity. The only negative was a foul smell on the ground floor corridor (I am sure it was down to a vending machine leaking gasses) I would definitely stay here again

Handy for an overnight stay

Posted 20-Sep-2017
I’ve stayed at the Dolmen a couple of times now, staff are really friendly, food in the restaurant is fantastic. Rooms are clean and tidy and well equipped. The only thing that lets it down ever so slightly in my opinion is that the bathrooms are starting to look a little tired but still perfectly functionable. All in all, I like staying here and will book a room here again.

We would stay here again if we were passing through. Girl at reception let us use laptop to print boarding passes. Very good food and breakfast.

Convenient to Carlow town centre

Posted 17-Aug-2017
Pros: The staff - very customer focused & friendly. The relaxed bar and lobby area - bar offers some very good gin & tonic mixes!
Cons: bathroom - ours was dated and shabby. Shower screen didn't fit properly, mildew along top of bath, basin was cracked + stain at base of pedestal.
Location: couple of miles outside Carlow town centre. The Waterford Crystal Factory & Newbridge Silver Centre/Style Museum are great places to visit.
Beautiful lobby & reception area. The hotel staff are very friendly & helpful. We spent 2 nights here & enjoyed our stay.
